Khatib the Survivor
On night 5, Khatib the Survivor will be at the Welcome Inn. Save the game, and
ask him everything he knows, talking about the Peace Mission upsets him very
much, so ask him all of the other questions first (like his name, liontaurs,
etc.) The next day (Day 6), go to the bazaar. When you walk back up from the
bottom screen, the thief will stop you near the beadmaker and ask for your help.
Agree to meet him there that night. That night, give him some food and offer
him money (gain honor). Speak to the priestess in the temple of Sekhmet, if
you go to the two guards near the city gates, the temple door is straight north
from there. You will be ordered to bring back a gem. Travel east of the Simbani
Village to the Heart of the World. If you are at the Welcome Inn anytime after
day 8, you will find out that Khatib has died.
Gift from the Heart of the World
When you travel east from the Simbani Village, you will see a very large tree
known as the Heart of the World. The last ingredient to the dispel potion is
there, plus a gem that foretells your destiny, and for magic-users, the magical
wood needed to make a staff (see the Magic-user's Fun section). To get the gift,
make your way to the top of the tree. At the top of the waterfall is a little
cave. Inside, there is a spiral platform under a purple-branched tree. Place
an waterskin filled at Erana's there to receive the gift from the heart. East
of the waterfall is another little cave, where if you can ask for a gem from
the spirits floating about. Go back to the overhead screen and continue east.
You'll see a a river and a waterfall. Wander around until you see a trap with
a monkey in it. Open the trap, and talk to the monkey. Return the gift from
the heart to Salim for the dispel potion, the gem to the temple of Sekhmet,
and magic-users talk to Kreesha. Return to the Simbani Village to find the Prisoner
and practice for the Initiation contest. When you've beaten Uhura 3 times in
one match of wrestling on the bridge, you're probably ready.
