BACKGROUND

In less than one hundred years we have rerouted, uprooted and damaged the Everglades to a state of biological collapse. (1) The central section of the historic Everglades ecosystem is now a series of water storage or conservation areas managed primarily to provide flood control for developed East Coast communities.
