13 other members of the Oromo ethnic group, names not known
Fifteen members of the Oromo ethnic group, including the first two men named
above, were arrested on 18 May in the capital, Addis Ababa. Sentayehu Workneh
was arrested on 20 May. They are reportedly held incommunicado at the 3rd
police station, the Central Investigation Department ("Maikelawi"), where
torture and ill-treatment of political prisoners has been reported in the past.
Amnesty International considers them to be prisoners of conscience.

Ethiopia, Friday, October 24, 2003.East Hararghe, Oromia, in Water Region, One of the most severely affected areas in a drought for the last two years. Specially which this week the resident escaped that area on bare-foot to closest cities like Dirre Dawa, Harar, and Hara Maya. A degree of more acute human suffering and a potential humanitarian disaster, due largely to what Mr. Ahmed-Nur Mussa who run from that area described there is also unknown acute chronic disease breakout. It is hard to explain what happen to that region. He said, ” You are seeing people just dying from unknown disease and hungry.” Humanitarian agencies and the government's Disaster Prevention and Preparedness Commission of Ethiopia must look immediately in to this situation.
