1. Place your piece of origami on the table in a diamond shape with the color side face down. Fold the top corner down to the bottom corner.

2. Fold the right corner of the paper to the left corner

3. There should be two flaps to the triangle, put your finger in one of the flaps and push down on the crease to make a square. Do the same thing for the other side.

4. You should have a small diamond at this point. Now take the right hand corner of the paper and fold it along side the middle crease of the diamond. Do this to the left side and the back side as well so it ends up in a kite shape.

5. Fold the top corner of the kite down over the creases that you last did (this is just to give you an easier time on your next step).

6. Undo the folds that you did in step 4 and 5 so that it is back to the diamond shape.

7. This is the tricky part, on the open end of the diamond, lift the top most layer of paper up and over the top of the diamond and crease it down.

8. Do step 7 to the other side so that it looks like a skinner diamond.

9. Take the top layer on left hand corner of the diamond and fold it along side the center of the diamond and crease flat. Repeat this step to the right side and the back side.

10. Fold the top layer of the left corner of the paper to the right corner. Turn the paper to the backside and fold the top layer of the left corner to the right corner.

11. This is what it should look like right now.

12. Fold the top layer of the bottom corner to the top of the paper. Do the same thing for the reverse side.

13. Fold the top layer of the right corner of the paper to the left corner. Turn the paper to the backside and fold the top layer of the right corner to the left corner.

14. Fold the top layer of the top corner down to your desired wing length. Do the same thing to the backside, these will be your wings.

15. Pull the wings out in opposite directions so that that they stick out to the sides.

16. Fold one of the ends of the crane (not the tail) a little down to make the head. You just finished making your crane.
