Burmese and Lanna Thai style architectures and its famous place, well known all
over the world, is the Thai Elephant Conservation Centre.

Occupying
an area of 12,533 square kilometers,Lampang is
administratively divided into 13 Amphoes(Dustructs) Muang,
Thoen,Mae Phrik, ko kha, Ngao, Chae Hom,wang Nua, Mae Tha, Sop
Prap, Serm Ngam, Hang Chat, Mae Mo and Muang Pan. Lampang is
located some 599 kms.,from Bangkok, accessible by Highway No.
2 passing through Ayutthaya-Looburi-Kamphaeng Petch-Tak,
taking a total time span of 7 hours and some 100 kms from
Chiang Mai by Highway No. 11 through Lamphun,taking about 1.30
hours. |

WAT
CHEDI SAO
This
monastery is situated neat Lampang-Chae Hom Highway at Ban
Wang Moh, 6 Kms. From the township area. Looking from the
highway one can see a groupof 20 pagodas of this monastery
standing in the rice fiels. It is one of the important
statutory places, great historical and archaeological value.
Some small Buddha statues, in the form of amulet, of
Hariphunchai period have been found in the pagodas.

WAR
PRATHAT CHOMPING
his monastery is the most important one in Lampang, located in
Tambon Lampang Luang, Amphoe Ko Kha, 18 Kms. From the township
area, housing Pra Kaew Don Tao Buddha lmage whose lap width is
6 ½ inches, and overall height from the base to topknot
is 8 inches. The base is made of flat-piece gold weighing a
litter over 285 grams while the head wear is of golden crown
with ornament made in the form of necklace weighing 105 grams. |

KHUNRARN NATIONAL PARK

Is
licated within Lampang and Lamphun, has an area of 225 square
kilometers and an altitude of 1,272 meters. Access park
headquarter is far from Khuntarn Railway Station by walking.
By car, turning right at Km. 47 from Lampang-Lamphun Road and
driving 18 Kms. More. There is a 1,362 meter-long tunnel,
regarded the longest one in Thailand, for railroad lying
underneath the mountain. There are accommodations which belong
to the Royal State Railway of Thailand
