The Newcastle Discovery Museum This museum is home to ten eclectic galleries focused on discovery. These include the Maritime Gallery, which houses numerous model ships, the Pioneers Gallery, dedicated to the region's inventors and the Science Factory. It is the region's biggest free museum and the gateway to fun and facts about life on Tyneside. The Discovery Museum has a website. This is the address http://www.twmuseums.org.uk/discovery

The Centre for Life The Centre for Life, a science village in the heart of Newcastle upon Tyne, fosters advancement in the life sciences. Founded in 1996 it is an independent, not-for-profit institution situated in the centre of Newcastle celebrating a great discovery - the structure of DNA which contains the blueprint of life - and the mysteries it continues to unfold.

The Great North
Run is a half marathon that takes place in September every year. It
stretches 13.1 miles from Newcastle upon Tyne to South Shields.
