Guidelines

Knowing Me Is Knowing You is a safe web-based classroom project dedicated to cultural diversity and global collaboration.
Its aim is to increase our pupils' cultural awareness and develop their curiosity towards other cultures and their own. It also aims to enable our pupils to practise and enhance their language skills for authentic communication with a global audience.

Besides, the goal is to give our pupils a reason to try to write well, a purpose for interacting via the Internet and a showcase for their finished work.
The cross-curricular approach is also encouraged by the activities provided by this project, as pupils have the opportunity to use their knowledge of geography, history, foreign languages, IT etc.

To sum up, the Knowing Me Is Knowing You project focuses on cultural awareness and intercultural learning in order to promote international understanding and world peace.
It encourages and motivates the pupils  worldwide (assisted by their teachers) not only to learn about each other using the opportunities offered by the new technologies, but also to develop their sense of awareness of being part of a dynamic, global community.
I believe that, especially in these times it is very important for children, who are our future, to live and learn about each other as neighbours in a worldwide community.

The "Knowing Me Is Knowing You" project is open to everyone and anyone who would like to participate in and we would be very excited to add you to our growing list of friends. Contact us!

Here are some guidelines for each activity. Click on the links below to find out more information.

Objectives
- to give our pupils the opportunity to compare and find differences and similarities among schools  in different countries and to open their school to the worldwide community.

A picture of our mascot is emailed to a class for a week. Print the mascot and make it larger, then stick it on cardboard, cut it out and hang it in your class.
At the end of the week send us some information (and photos) about the activities our mascot took part in. Please choose only those pieces of information and photos which are relevant to your school/town/country.

We would also like to find out information about the spare time activities which are popular with kids in your area. That is why we would appreciate if one of your pupils could host our mascot at his/her home at the weekend.

This project will give our pupils the opportunity to get to know their own literature better as well as the literature of other countries. It will also give them a reason to try to write well and a showcase for their finished work

This project gives our pupils the opportunity to read, summarize and illustrate (drawings/artworks) stories for children written by famous writers from their countries.

Our pupils would like to collect stories for children written by famous writers from different countries.

We invite your pupils to choose a story for children written by a well-known writer from your country, read it carefully, summarize it (in no more than 400 words) and illustrate it ( 2 drawings/artworks made by your pupils).

We would very much appreciate if you could send us your pupils' summaries and scanned drawings/artworks. We'll publish them on the project web page as soon as we get them.

Stories are a feature of all cultures and have a universal appeal.

National Symbols

Objectives:

We all know that a flag and a national coat of arm include colours, symbols and mottos that reflect a nation's history, geography and even the spirit of its people.

This project will give your pupils the opportunity to get to know their history better as well as the history of other countries. Thus they will acquire a deeper understanding of their national identity.

Learning the history of the flag and the coat of arm will help instill in pupils respect for their national symbols.

Our pupils  would like to collaborate with children from different countries and collect information about their countries' flags and national coats of arms.

Here are some guidelines that can help you make the most of this activity.

1. Explain the significance of the coat of arms and flag's symbols and colours.

2. Have the flag and coat of arms changed throughout your country's history?

3. What do the current flag and coat of arms reflect about your nation?

4. Are any of the facts you learned about your country reflected in its flag and coat of arms? Have you included them in your description?

5. Did you learn anything new about your country from its flag and coat of arms?

We invite you to send us information about your country's flag and coat of arm. We would very much appreciate if you could attach a picture/drawing (.jpg) of your country's flag and coat of arm.

All the pictures and information will be published on our project web site.
