Sisimai

These are three photographs of traditional performing arts. I have received them from one of my acquaintances.
This event is called sisimai. It came to be carried out as exorcism. A sisimai pays the evil spirit of which it is made to wear and burn a life of man, and the sisimai is worshipped as a spirit of a departed person with the power which calms it.

Tsukimi

Tsukimi is a Japanese custom which is performed in mid-September. A special moon-viewing event is traditionally held in this period. It is an occasion for people to pray to the moon for a good harvest.

Japanese pampas grass, a dumpling and fruit are offered on that day.

Hinamatsuri

Hinamatsuri is the Girls'/Dolls' Festival. It is celebrated on the 3rd of March when we decorate and display Hina dolls.

Most families with girls celebrate this festival. They pray for their girls' health and happiness. They also wish them good luck and a happy marriage.
