Jarrow is a wonderful town on the River Tyne, England. There was a Roman fort on the site in the 1st century. It was also occupied by the Anglo-Saxons in the 5th  century. One of the most famous sights in Jarrow is Saint Paul's Monastery and Church. It was once the home of the Venerable Bede - a monk and well-known author and scholar. His best-known work is "The Ecclesiastical History of the English People".

One wall of the church contains the oldest stained-glass window in the world, dating from about AD 600.

There are also other wonderful sights in Jarrow such as: The Vikings and Christ Church, The Town Hall, Saint's Bede Catholic Church, etc.
