Who to Contact and How to Report Internet Fraud Who to contact 1. Your local law enforcement agency. Ask them about Fraud and Internet fraud, and you can do to prevent being taken advantage of. They might refer you to FBI.gov, or IFCCFBI.gov, both good sites. 2. If you no the location of the criminal that committed fraud, contact the local law enforcement agency in that area. Explain the situation and what happened to you, how you were taken advantage of etc... There are 3 ways to do this (that I know of, please contact me if you know of any others not listed on this site), I will go into detail as much as I possible, on these 3 procedures. 1. First you should contact your bank/credit card company, if either were involved in the transaction (if you used check/credit/or debit card). Explain your situation to them and they should be able to help you. More info on how to get your money back here. 2. Second you can file a complaint with the IFCC (internet fraud complain center) right online. If others like your self were taken advantage of and also make complaints this provides helpful information for the FBI if they are or aren't already conducting an investigation. To post a complaint with the IFCC, click here and then make sure to read the site privacy policy. 3. Third you can file a complaint with the Fraud Bureau a online site dedicated to warning others about scams, Internet related fraud, and viruses. Post a complaint and warn others at the Fraud Bureau.(I haven't tried this method yet. Contact me if you have success) |
