| WELCOME TO PLANET WRESTLING! |
So you've been accepted to Planet Wrestling.
Congratulations! But after reading your aceptance letter, you're probably
still asking yourself "what now?". Hopefully, the following information
will help answer some of your questions.
If you've been accepted as a
PW Wrestler, click here.
If you've been accepted as a
PW Staff Member, click here.
You've been accepted as a new addition
to the Planet Wrestling Roster. First off, there's a number of things that
you should know and remember (I know there's a lot here, but ALL of it
is useful and important!):
- Your e-mail address will be added to
the Flash / mailing list with the next update. This takes some time on
occasion, so please be patient.
- DO NOT release any roleplays
until your e-mail address has been added to the Flash / mailing list. You'll
know it's been added when you receive a "PW Update" message.
- Your character(s) will be added to
the Roster with a coming update, unless you requested otherwise in your
application. Please be patient.
- You're expected to keep up with what's
going on in the fed, at all times, unless you're on a vacation
(and have taken the appropriate steps to notify the Co-Presidents of this).
- Since you'll be receiving a lot of
e-mail, you'll be expected to keep your InBox clear enough, such that you're
able to receive all incoming PW messages and roleplays.
- You'll be expected to roleplay for
matches. Remember that competition can be fierce in Planet Wrestling, so
please don't expect to win all of your matches.
- Roleplays are to be sent out via the
Flash link, which can be found on the main page.
- When sending anything out to the rest
of the fed via the Flash link, it will be your responsibility to make sure
that you send material to ALL of the e-mail addresses inclued on the
mailing / Flash list. Sometimes, some browsers or whatever have trouble
sending messages out to more than 50 addresses at a time. If you have this
problem, then you MUST make sure that you send your material out as
many times as is necessary so that it is sent to ALL of the addresses
on the Flash / mailing list. Furthermore, if you DO have to send out
material more than once so that it reaches all PW members, then each
time you send the material, you must make sure that Rob Michaud's [email protected]
address is included in the list of addresses. If
this requirement is NOT met when you're releasing roleplays and you're
caught on it, then the offending roleplays WILL BE DISCOUNTED
until the roleplay is sent to everyone.
- Please read this, ESPECIALLY
if you have trouble getting a mail window to pop up when you click on the
FLASH link! Some people with HOTMAIL
accounts (and a few other account types, too, I think...) have trouble
with sending messages via the Flash list. If you have trouble getting a
mail window to pop up when you click on the FLASH link, please read
this. Since I always want you to be using the Flash list to send roleplays
and communicate withe the entire fed, you'll be having to copy the addresses
by right-clicking the Flash link, copying the info and pasting the addresses
into your HOTMAIL window or something of the sort. IF you can't get all
the addresses to fit into one sent message, then you'll have to send your
messages multiple times to get all the addresses sent to. IF you have to
do this, please make ABSOLUTELY SURE that Rob Michaud's [email protected] address
is in each one of your messages sent to the federation. If
this requirement is NOT met when you're releasing roleplays and you're
caught on it, then the offending roleplays WILL BE DISCOUNTED
until the roleplay is sent to everyone. Let me know how this all
goes, and if you encounter any problems...
- Remember that any criticism offered
to you by PW staff is meant only to help point you in the right direction
and make you a better player. Nobody's perfect, so take any criticisms
as friendly advice, and try not to get discouraged, angry or insulted,
remembering that we're only trying to help.
- Don't expect to get title shots right
away, or even that your character will be involved in the title chases.
These things take time.
- For your first match, to get you started
as soon as possible, we often suggest that you have your character partake
in a jobber match. If you choose this path, Planet Wrestling will book
you against a jobber opponent for your debut match. You are guarenteed
to win a jobber match, but whether you look good in it or not will depend
on how you roleplay. Don't roleplay at all, and your
character stands the chance of looking foolish. Furthermore, it
is suggested, that if you have the ability to write your character's debut
match, that you do so, following the guidelines described though the links
that can be found by clicking here. If you
decide that you'd like to have a debut jobber match, let
the Presidents know, and be sure to tell them whether or not you'd
like to write your own debut match.
- If you're new to e-wrestling or roleplaying
altogether, and even if you've been around the e-wrestling world for a
while, I full suggest that you take a look at the following sites: Jeff
Berry's "Wild
World of e-Wrestling", PW Roleplaying
Advice, Jeremy Odessa's "The
Dungeon E-Wrestling Training Center", The
Keening School of Grappling Arts, as well as "more
advice on roleplaying" (I especially reccomend that you read the
PW Roleplaying
Advice page, as it offers advice that is directly
relevant to roleplaying in Planet Wrestling). All of these are valuable
resources for learning more about e-wrestling in general, and how to be
a successful, roleplaying e-wrestler, and they have information pertinet
to those new to e-wrestling, as well as for e-wrestling veterans. If you're
really keen, you may want to check around the 'Net for other such sites
that offer insights into e-wrestling and tips about e-wrestling roleplaying.
Good luck!
- If you've read over the Rules
page, the Welcome page, you've taken the PW Orientation
tour , you've read through the information contained in the links above
and still have questions, look over the FAQ page,
to make sure your answers can't be found there. THEN, if you have any other
questions, please don't hesitate to ask
them.
I know that's a lot to process, but
once again, let me be the first to welcome you to Planet Wrestling. I wish
you luck and success with your new character(s) and I hope you enjoy your
stay. If you ever have any questions or anything, don't ever hesitate to
ask them to me via e-mail. I answer almost everything as soon as I'm able
(and if I don't answer, it's usually because of my forgetting to...). Best
of luck in your PW career. Hope to hear from you again soon,
| ACCEPTED AS A STAFF MEMBER |
You've been accepted as a new addition
to the Planet Wrestling Staff. First off, there's a number of things that
you should know and remember (I know there's a lot here, but ALL of it
is useful and important!):
- Your e-mail address will be added to
the Flash / mailing list with the next update. This takes some time on
occasion, so please be patient.Your e-mail address will be added to the
Flash / mailing list with a coming update to the page. You'll know it's
been added when you receive a "PW Update" message.
- Your name, e-mail and staff position(s)
will be added to the Staff page with a coming update, but please be patient,
as this somethimes take a while.
- As a staff member, you're still expected
to keep up with what's going on in the fed, at all times, unless you're
on a vacation (and have taken the appropriate steps to notify
the Co-Presidents of this). This includes roleplays, cards, updates,
and other goings-on, both real and fantasy within Planet Wrestling.
- Since you'll be receiving a lot of
e-mail, you'll be expected to keep your InBox clear enough, such that you're
able to receive all incoming PW messages and roleplays.
- Messages to the entire fed, if you're
ver authourized to send them, are to be sent out via the Flash link, which
can be found on the main page.
- Please read this, ESPECIALLY
if you have trouble getting a mail window to pop up when you click on the
FLASH link! Some people with HOTMAIL
accounts (and a few other account types, too) have trouble with sending
messages via the Flash list. Since I always want you to be using the Flash
list to send roleplays and communicate withe the entire fed, you'll be
having to copy the addresses by right-clicking the Flash link, copying
the info and pasting the addresses into your HOTMAIL (or whatever) window
or something of the sort. IF you can't get all the addresses to fit into
one sent message, then you'll have to send your messages multiple times
to get all the addresses sent to (see above). IF you have to do this, please
make ABSOLUTELY SURE that my [email protected] address is in each one of your
messages sent to the federation. Let me know how this all goes, and if
you encounter any problems...
- Remember that any criticism offered
to you by other PW staff is meant only to help point you in the right
direction and help improve your performance. Nobody's perfect, so take
any criticisms as friendly advice, and try not to get discouraged, angry
or insulted, remembering that we're only trying to help.
- Remember that, although you are a member
of the staff, that you can also apply as a player/
wrestler, if you wish. In fact, we encourage you to do so, as it helps
involve you better in the fed. This is not necessary, however.
- If you've been accepted for a match
writing position, you should be getting to work on your first assignemnt
as soon as you can, but BEFORE you even think about starting it, you
should be reading over the information contained in the links on Planet
Wrestling's Writing a Match page. You
may also want to look at past cards, to get an idea of the kinds of things
we look for in a match. After you've done that, THEN you're ready
to start your writing assignement.
- If you have any other questions, then
please don't hesitate to ask
them.
I know that's a lot to take in in one
shot... but once again, let me be the first to welcome you to Planet Wrestling.
I wish you luck and success with your new staff positions(s) and I hope
you enjoy your stay. If you ever have any questions or anything, don't
ever hesitate to ask them to me via e-mail. I answer almost everything
as soon as I'm able (and if I don't answer, it's usually because of my
forgetting to...). Best of luck in your PW career. Hope to hear from you
again soon,
