October 12, 2001 Power Point Templates have been uploaded to a Yahoo Briefcase.  The files could not be uploaded to this site because of Yahoo restrictions on file types, so the links have been provided, and the files are now available to all members of the Northwest Chapter.

Full PowerPoint Presentations are coming, and will be uploaded as the following week progresses.

September 27, 2001 PowerPoint templates have been added to the members only section.  These files can be downloaded for the purpose of educating the public about Paramedicine, or while training our local personal.  A free downloadable PowerPoint viewer link will be added as well, similar to the free Adobe Acrobat reader so those who do not have PowerPoint can view the files.

To view the new PowerPoint Templates (backgrounds), go to the main page and log in to the Members only area.

Coming soon: full PowerPoint Presentations, dealing with medical related issues.  Some are based on American EMS, while others have been created specifically for use here in Northwestern Ontario.

Note:  Our high speed DSL service is currently down again, and these files will be uploaded as soon as the web is accessible :)

September 21, 2001 Over the past week or so, added some more information on EMS Job Postings, Local Information, Research links and a few other minor changes.

September 01, 2001 Added some course info, and added the Paramedic Equivalency link for those interested in practicing Paramedicine in Ontario.  Added a few more links the other day, including the new Thunder Bay Paramedics, and NWO Paramedics site.

August 28, 2001 Changed tree structure of some pages.  Found web changes information was getting too big (this info below will be deleted when site goes public, but over a year or so, it will still need its own page).  Have to add more info to Local Information page.

Playing with Java Script menu makers, will be adding better (flashier) menu's in near future.

August 19, 2001 Added another News article, and examples of Courses (Dryden's ZOLL training dates).

August 17, 2001 Looked again at the Lambton Base Hospital web site.  Love the idea and information on it, hope to still incorporate some of the ideas Chuck has on the site, such as list of dates for courses, downloadable files, feedback form, Newsletters, etc...but focused towards OPA, instead of Base Hospital.

Added 2 news articles found on the Chronicle Journal web site.

Added a few EMS related links (local and OPA related)

Added PDF document to site, an overview of the site concept, and some ideas for improvement and changes needed.

August 08, 2001 Added a news article, back on dial up for the past few days, as local DSL service down again (hopefully up again soon).

August 05, 2001 Evening:  Added tables to the course information page, and put up a course in September (questionable date, but as limited viewers, felt I should try it out).  Suggestion rec'd to include training courses from Regional Training office (s).  Will need a list of courses from Thunder Bay West/East to add to up and coming courses.

Worked on Discussion group settings, can add moderators (OPA Executive if they so wish), and accessible by invite only.  Problem, have to know if the person requesting inclusion is an OPA NW member, otherwise I have to take a guess as to whom the person is, and do they belong to the Northwest Chapter.  Note:  could move the access area into the members only page, that way once the member is in the secure pages, and requests to join the discussion group, could e-mail from that page :) I would know they are already in the login area (member)

Added buttons to sections on this page and courses page so people can press it to head back to the top of the page.

Hoping to get my hands on the OPA Northwest By-Laws to post instead of the provincial OPA ones. :)  Also looking for pics of the clothing available from OPA and their costs for the OPA stuff page.

August 04, 2001 Wee hours of the morning: Added another form for the EMS Links page.  If people want to submit a link that is relevant to Paramedics in Northwestern Ontario, they can fill out a form and it automatically gets sent to my e-mail account for consideration.  Also added similar forms to the Research page, Courses and CME and Events pages

Evening:  Added a discussion group and link from the OPA Stuff page.  Invitations have to be sent out (this way only members of the OPA Northwest Chapter can participate).  Added a mini-poll on the Contact Information page to find out what can be improved on the site.  Built another guest book, but had problems and decided to stay with Geocities one for now (problem being, max 15 entries before having to archive them, still viewable, but more work).  Added Password Gate on the main page that links to special pages that only OPA members can view.  Login information would have to be given out to all the members, and information such as meeting minutes, etc. could be placed in here.  Added Search Page (have to refine the META Tags on each page to narrow the searches down).  Built a Discussion Group for members of OPA Northwest Chapter (again, at this time it is strictly for OPA members, they have to request access to the group).  Members can E-Mail the web guy from the "News" page and request an invite.

Wee hours of the morning:  Changed the password gate to Java Script and added a redirect page for invalid login.   (Left the Bravenet (secure) gate on the members page for people to see and decide which they like better (security wise).)

Note: the password is "OPA Northwest" on the main page.  I will remove the password from this page later on.

August 03, 2001 Wee hours of the morning:  Updated the rest of the web tables to width of 650 pixels, need feedback on viewing area on 800x600 screens.  Added more news articles.  Asked around for information on the Star of Life, Base Hospital Newsletters, and profiles for the executive.  Would also like to get some CME articles available on the web (possibly through a secure login, with question and answer sheets available to E-mail or print out).  Just a thought, need input on feasibility of it.  Working on secure login area for members only.

Late evening:  Redid pages on 600 pixel width, still not showing up without scroll bars on 800x600 resolution (think there are some items on pages which are greater that 600 pixels, not allowing the tables to shrink further that 650.  Will have to look at each item (graphic).

Added Form on Contact Information page.  When someone wishes to get a hold of  OPA, they fill in the form and it is sent automatically to an e-mail account (mine for now, can forward to someone else, or change primary e-mail account later if need be).  Works great, should allow feedback very quickly.  Later added new check boxes to form, "How did you find the OPA site", and found it also works.  Right now the form gets sent to Yahoo, then redirected to my account, can change this at any time, to send the form results directly to any e-mail account.

August 02, 2001 Wee Hours of the morning:  Updated every page on the web site, placed all information in tables to limit the width of the screen view (so people viewing with 800x600 can see whole width of page without scrolling.  Got it viewable without scrolling at around 1000dpi, but will redo the tables one more time to get them viewable on 800 later on tonight.) A big thanks for pointing out that not all have 1400dpi screens,...you know who you are :) This page has a table of 650 pixels, the rest have tables of 680 pixels.  Fixed link to NWOPA registration form on membership page.

Problem noted with shrinking the forms for Paramedicine 2001 (hard to read).  Have to figure out how to make them more visible.

August O1, 2001 Deleted all pages on web server, and reloaded to fix problem geocities is having with links.  Added recent articles from Chronicle Journal, Dryden Observer, Kenora Daily Miner and News (Nothing found on Fort Frances Times) to News section under Media Coverage.  Need to find more On-line sources of local Media (Thunder Bay East in particular).  Tried adding secure log on area for Executive and/or members, but found that service automatically added a banner to the bottom of the site (Bravenet Services).  Will look at adding this option at a later date if requested (though will try without a third party service).  Geocities Guestbook added to the site

Added graphics to the site (Demers 4x4, Crestline Modular with S-76, stethoscope) and changed the application form to one for the Northwest Chapter (in PDF).  Will look at making this page separate (Web site updates) as it this section could overshadow the press and media releases (added navigation bar at the top of page for now).  Added 2 other pics on Skill Levels page (need to contact 799 for permission to use Air medic pics)

July 31, 2001 Added a new page entitled "Courses and CME".  The purpose of the page is to give area Paramedics the opportunity to find courses relevant to their profession, as well as the possibility of Continuing Medical Education through downloadable files, etc...  Updated contact information on OPA Executive (received e-mail and updated from that).  Still need e-mail addresses for public to contact Executive.

July 30, 2001 Several pictures uploaded to pages on the site (posters, license plate, Paramedicine 2001, Oxygen kit and HS 3000, and picture of an Ambulance front end).  Information corrected with respect to the OPA Executive.  Registration forms for Paramedicine 2001 and OPA membership created in PDF and uploaded (available for printing).  Information on the Paramedicine 2001 conference added to the site with links from the "News" page.  Working on making the PDF forms into editable forms for user input (users can type in all the information except their signature, and print it out)

July 28, 2001 Redesigned the format of the pages (Horizontal lines added), added comments to pages where I would like to update information or need opinions on changes.  Updated Contact information from Canadian Emergency News magazine article (OPA Northwest submission), as well as added information on OPA purchases.

July 27, 2001 Updated web site with information provided by OPA members with different wording and graphics.

July 26, 2001 The Ontario Paramedic Association - Northwest Chapter Establishes Internet Presence.  The trial web site goes active today, in attempt to get input on correcting information and securing approval for posting as an official web site for the Northwest Chapter
