Suzanne Longley

Suzanne won the Ballet competition from The National Society of Arts and Letters, Washington Chapter, in 1970 and represented our Chapter in the National Competition winning the Second Award. Since winning she first performed in the Corp de Ballet, National Ballet of Washington, DC 1972-74. At this time she won the Bronze Medal in the 1972 Varua, Bulgaria, International Ballet Competition. From 1974-76 Suzanne was a soloist with the Chicago Ballet. Then she became Principal Ballerina with the Houston Ballet remaining with them until 1985. During this time she won the 1985 Mayor's Awaard for Outstanding Performing Artists and in 1980 was the first American guest artist to appear with Sadlers Wells Royal Ballet. From 1988-92 Suzanne taught at the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts in Houston. 

Suzanne Longley is married to Randall Morton, and advertising executive and they have two children. Suzanne is now using her artistic talents as a landscape designer with her own company, Suzanne Longley Landscapes, Inc. specializing in both commercial and residential landscapes.
