| RULES CONTINUED |
| II. The League 1. The Teams The league will consist of up to eight (8) teams, operated by the franchise owner(s). Each franchise will initially draft/purchase 23 players (see II(2) and (3) below). Up until the conclusion of the Supplemental Draft, teams are permitted to have holes in their roster (see II(4)(c) below). Upon the conclusion of the Draft, at no time shall a team have any position on their 23-man roster open and therefore shall consist of no fewer than 23 players. 2. The Line-up a. The Positions The following are the 23 positons that must be filled upon completion of the intial auction. (see II(3) below) OFFENSIVE PLAYERS 1 First baseman 1 Second baseman 1 Shortstop 1 Third baseman 1 Corner infielder (either a first baseman or a third baseman) 1 Middle infielder (either a second baseman or a shortstop) 2 Catchers 5 outfielders (of any outfield position) 1 Utility player (any offensive position, including designated hitter) DEFENSIVE PLAYERS/PITCHERS 9 pitchers b. Determining the Positions At the start of the auctions, a player's position for the upcoming season may be determined by either 1) the positon primarily played during the 2000 season or 2)by rumor or announcement made by the player's team or other credible source. You should be able to play players at the position you drafted them at the beginning of the season. A player must have played that position 20 games last year, or it has been announced that that player will play there this year to be eligible. HOWEVER - and this is VERY important - after the first week, there will be a ONE GAME requirement or CBS will not let you use the player at that position per my instructions. I dont want people plugging in players as an everyday catcher (for example) when he still hasn't played there and may not. After the first month, so as of May 1, there is a 5 game requirement and that is where the requirement will stay from there on out. Please note: A franchise may only use a player who is considered a designated hitter in the utility spot. Such players are not considered outfielders. Also note: As you know, eligibility at the beginning of the season is set by primarily what the player did LAST year. Just like last year, after several weeks of play, the eligibility requirement wil change to require 5 games played by that player THIS year. So as of WEEK 7 you will ONLY be permitted through CBS to start a player at a given position who has played 5 games at that given position THIS year. 3. The Auction a. Set-up The initial draft shall be performed in an auction format. Each franchise will be provided with $270 worth of credit dollars, from which a team of 23 players (see II(2) above) must be purchased. There is no borrowing of credits for the auction, and a franchise must be able to purchase an entire team with its credits. Any purchase which renders this ability impossible shall be voided by the Commissioner. b. Bidding - The Format The franchises will be drawn in a fashion so as to create a random order. In the order selected, a franchise owner will place a player on the auction block and set the first bid. From this point, all franchise owners may bid on the player. The highest bid, as called by the Commissioner, is awarded the player. c. Bidding - Ability to Bid Any owner may bid on a player so long as the owner has a position open for that player. Any bids placed by an owner who has no room for the player on whom the bid was placed shall be voided by the Commissioner, and the next highest bid will remain effective. d. Venue A chat room will be set up for the sole purpose of performing this auction. The information will be posted on the official website. |
