Tratara Kiatra Detoya

"I'm short. Get over it."

No "Current" Picture...

Name: Tratara Kiatra Detoya
From: The Jade Kingdom, on the planet Jolaan
Candidate at: The Abstract Destiny
Species: Quequmra (unsplit / "full blood")
Parents: Ingol Kiatra, Felpurr
Julienne Kiatra Detoya, Quequmra (unsplit) (dominant race)
Age: Nine Cycles
Sex: Female
Height: 4' 0" (current), 4' 11" (adult)
Hair: Straight, golden blond, pushed back behind her head but not in a ponytail; fur of the same color, in her non-humanoid forms
Eyes: Stormy gray, in the shape of a typical house cat, unchanged by other forms
Residence: Jolaan, home of the Jade Castle
Personality: Soft-spoken and calm in demeanor, Tratara is typically demure and agreeable, though not what one would call passive. She has a great zest for learning, despite her relative skill level in whatever she's tackling, and is eager to use what she knows to help however she can. Her mild-mannered disposition is occasionally jolted by a nicely spiced dose of attitude, often to the surprise of others -- particluarly when matters become urgent. This, among other things, serves to remind that the otherwise frail-looking girl is not as soft and delicate as she appears.
Appearance and Race Information: Tratara is small of frame and has always looked to be a year or two younger than she really is, for unknown reason; there is nothing physically wrong with her. As a human (her "rary" form), her long, straight golden hair falls neatly down her back, not really restrained in any way, with the front cut short if only for convenience. She's typically found wearing clothing that seems far too nice for the occasion, even when playing or at work, posing an interesting challenge to the Castle's tailors; to her, it's just comfortable, and that's a battle her father has chosen not to fight. Finally, as her mother often does and her father has no real choice, Tratara's feet are usually bare unless someone is insisting otherwise.

As a quequmra, she has two other forms: One full feline (the "qum" form), house cat-like until around her tenth year, at which point it becomes a panther-like cub and grows as such; and the other a biped cat (the "que" form), with varied panther-versus-catlike features. A notable difference between this and other biped cats is that a que-form's legs are typically straight as a human's, rather than bent. A quequmra can shift between these forms at will, once they are acquired early in life, and have a very limited and short-duration shapeshifting ability otherwise, with certain exceptions (see "Abilities," below).
History: Tratara's father is a prominent psionic, mentor to several students and a lead counsellor of the Crown. Her mother was formerly a wanderer and rogue, running in with a rather interesting crowd. This combination alone makes for some interesting times, though Tratara is often confined to the castle, much to her chagrin. She has pounced upon her ability as a natural-born healer, however, and is currently serving quite well in the medics' ward of the Jade Castle. Having befriended most of the Castle's royalty has not hurt her cause at all... though half of them are more powerful than she by an order of magnitude.
Abilities (General and Specific): Quequmra were originally created as a guardian race with nine 'lives' (either hence, or due to, their feline nature), and their blood is infused with 'gifts' upon birth and rebirth, typically two or three for each 'life.' Extended shapeshifting, healing power, element control, rune-drawing, magic channeling, physical law manipulation, and psionics are some examples of the thirty gifts that a quequmra can be randomly granted. Genetics typically have little play, though some quequmra families rarely tend toward one gift or another; for example, the Detoyas are known as a psionic family.

At a point far in the past, the quequmra were feared as being too powerful, and most of the families were forcibly and magically split into their three different forms: the que, the qum, and the rary. While, in time, they learned to take on their other forms again, this event permanently diluted the power of most families, allowing them only one gift per life, if that. The Detoya family is one of the few "full-blood" families left; but even so, mingling with other races has taken its toll over time.

Tratara, for her part, was born with a semi-prominent healing ability and a limited psionic gift. In addition, likely from her father's side, she was born with a psionic "wild talent:" Create Focefield, both at will (draining her psionic power significantly) and involuntary, if she happens to see the blow or projectile coming.
