Hello there!
As well as collecting Matchbox miniatures, I also collect Budgie Models. I have built this website in order to display my Budgie collection which is mainly themed around large scale commercial vehicles. Also displayed are my large & small scale Morestone models and small scale Budgie toys.

To the top right of this page is a menu of linked pages. Each page allows you to navigate back home to this page.

When looking at the photos if you leave your cursor lingering on a photo, a brief explanation of the model name, number and lifespan (along with anything any comments) appears. If you click on a photo, a larger image is displayed.

I hope you enjoy this site (please also click the link below to take you to my Matchbox site) and feel free to leave comments in my guest book. Please keep checking back as I add more models to my collection.

Nigel Clarke

I have decided to sell my entire collection of Matchbox, Budgie, Morestone & Kemlow models. Vectis auctions (in conjuction with ebay auctions) will handle the one day sale, due to take place on the 13th December 2006. Please keep checking their link for further details: http://www.vectis.co.uk
Rarity 5. Extremely hard to find original shop display unit from 1965.
Morris & Stone (Morestone) started as a diecast toy distributor in 1946. At first they distributed toys made on their behalf, but in the early fifties they began to make their own as well. Their family tree is linked to other famous North London toymakers of the time, including Lesney and Benbros.
In 1959 they introduced the Budgie range. Large scale Budgies were made to compete with Dinky, small scale to compete with Matchbox. At neither venture did they succeed. In 1961 Morris & Stone  were taken over by another toymaker, S. Guiterman. Business was hard and S. Guiterman were liquidated in 1966. Not long after, most of the tools and dyes were destroyed in a fire.
Whilst the name was subsequently sold on and continues to trade fitfully up to the present day; to me, the magic was destroyed by the fire. Consequently, as a collector, I recognise 1959-66 as the authentic Budgie period, and 1946 - 66 as the Morestone period.
Budgie models, whilst not
always as well made as those of their famous competitors, have a charm and uniqueness of their own - some of the models made are downright strange!
I have allocated each vehicle a rarity number based on how difficult to find a mint boxed model is. This does not necessarily represent market values.
Rarity 5 = Extremely rare
Rarity 4 = Very rare
Rarity 3 = Rare
Rarity 2 = Scarce
Rarity 1 = Common
