AIDS/HIV training for journalists

BriefsThe Mizoram State Aids Control Society is to organise a training on HIV and AIDS for journalists on October 3, 2002 at the Aizawl Press Club. The training will commence from 12 noon and conclude at 5 pm. HIV/AIDS training has been imparted to local journalists from time to time which has had good response from journalists and through them, satisfactory results on the public in the awareness area.

MPCD organises Kawrthah Block conference

The splinter group from the MPC party, MPC Democratic will be holding a block conference at Kawrthah in western Mizoram on September 25, 2002. Party president, Wg Cdr Lalnghinglova has left Aizawl along with a number of party leaders to attend this conference.

ZNPY accuses gov't of propagating lies

The Zoram Nationalist Party youths have accused the Mizoram government of propagating lies when MAMCO announced procurement rates of various farm products outside the state. According to the ZNPY rates as on September 8, 2002 was Rs 36.67 per kg for ginger in Cochin (Kerala), chilli pepper at Rs 31.80 in Guntur, turmeric Rs 39.33 in Cochin (Mumbai) and garlic Rs 44 in Mumbai. The ZNP youths said the government should not use the MAMCO to propagate such lies again.

Two new MPSC members

The Mizoram governor has appointed two new members to the Mizoram Public Service Commission with effect from September 23, 2002. Lalnghinglova, Jt Secy, DP&AR and B Sangkhumi, Jt Director, H & T Edn are the two new members.

Money in CM's Relief Fund

The Senior Front, MNF gen hqrs, Mizoram Police SSA and Mizoram Police ASI Welfare Commt have given Rs 1000, Rs 10,000 and Rs 5000 respectively to the CM's Relief Fund.
