NCP to support MNF

The Mizoram Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has announced the party's decision to support the Mizo National Front in the coming Assembly Polls. After studying the present political situation, the MNF is found to be the only party which can fulfill the basic needs of the state, the MNCP said as the reason for supporting the MNF. MP and other NCP officials from Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh may arrive here on Monday, the party source said.

Party chiefs on Skylinks

Skylinks Local TV is broadcasting another round of interviews with party chiefs. Interview with Zoram Nationalist Party chief Lalduhoma will be aired live on Oct. 21; MNF chief Zoramthanga on Oct. 24. MPCC chief Lal Thanhawla on Oct. 28; BJP Chief V.F.Lalzarliana on Oct. 31 and MPC chief Lalhmingthanga on Nov. 4. Programmes will be started from 7:30PM on each day.

CEO alerts DCs

The Chief Electoral Officer has directed all Deputy Commissioner to make sure that the election Model Code of Conduct is not infringed upon and to strictly uphold the Code. The CEO also reminded that normal functioning of the DRDA, District Consultative Committee, District Level Task Force, House Allotment Advisory Board, Housing Loan Board, etc. are suspended.

Mizo Catholics join hands with Vatican

In connection with the beatification of Mother Teresa at the Vatican, the Mizoram Roman Catholic Church celebrated High Mass at St. Joseph's Church in Kolasib, led by the Bishop of Aizawl, the most Rev. Stephen Rotluanga yesterday.

SSA funds lost

Under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) scheme funds could not be fully utilised. This was due to the state governments failure to meet the amount of "matching share" said a ZNP press release.
