CM leaves for Delhi to attend meeting
Chief minister Zoramthanga left the city yesterday for New Delhi to attend the chief ministers' meeting called by the Prime Minister on October 18. He will be away for about a week.
Suicide by hanging
The office chowkidar of the PHE Division I office at Tuikhuahtlang committed suicide around 7:30 pm Sunday night. The chowkidar, Biju Das of Ramnagar, near Silchar had hanged himself, police said. Since he had left no note, police could not say why he had committed suicide.
MzU inspection team visits southern Mizoram
The first Mizoram University inspection team visited Lunglei during October 9-11 where they inspected the J Buana College and the Southern College. The inspection team headed by Prof R S Wangu included Dr Margaret Zama and Dr Laltluangliana Khiangte and six others.
YMA souvenir to be released
Agriculture minister Aichhinga will release the 2002 YMA general conference souvenir on October 16 at the CYMA Hall. The YMA general conference this year will take place at Khawzawl, near Champhai during October 22 to 24.
Thangkura drama at Vanapa Hall
The popular Mizo comedian known as Thangkura will put on a show at Vanapa Hall on October 17 and 18, 2002. The show, Khaw lo la awm tur will also be released in the audio form on cassettes. Tickets for the show have been priced at Rs 100, Rs 50 and Rs 30.
RO, PO training from Oct 24
After LAD officials have been given their training on October 17, the returning and polling officers will be given training from October 24 for the October 30 Village Council elections. The training will conclude the next day. In the meantime, the DLAO�s offices in the districts where VC elections will take place are open all week except Sundays.
