Mizo music magazine to give awards
Aizawl Oct 09 :Rimawi Khawvel, a music magazine in the Mizo language is to give awards to popular local singers and choirs in a function to be held on November 1, 2002 at Vanapa Hall.
The magazine will award prizes in 9 categories which are best Male Artiste 2002 (Gospel & Love songs), Best Female Artiste 2002 (Gospel & Love songs), Best New Artiste 2002, Best song Composer 2002, Best Choir 2002, Best Album 2002 and Best Music Video 2002.
The best of the last top three nominees in each of the categories will be selected at the award function.
The top three in the various categories are Elizah Lalrinawma, V Vanlalhriatrenga and R Lalbiaksanga in the male gospel category, H Lalthakima, Lalruatfela Pachuau and Tommy L Pachuau in the male love song category, Elizabeth Zodinpuii, Lalngengpuii Tochhawng and Lalrindiki Khiangte in the female gospel category, Henry Thanzauva Khiangte, H lalmuankimi and V L Neihthangi (Nunu-i) in the best new artiste category, Biakdika, C Zoramliana (Rampuia) and PC Lalthakima in the best composer category, Besy Coir, Synod Choir and the Leprosy Mission choir in the choir category, Ka hmangaih Isua by Nunu-i, Khaw thianghlim Jerusalem by Rebecca Saimawii and Mizoram Tan by Lalrindiki Khiangte in the best album category and Kan hneh ngei dawn, Chun hrawn vang and Gospel Collection in the music video category.
Rimawi Khawvel magazine have been awarding people in the music field to promote music in the state from 2000.
Power bills payment suspended
Aizawl Oct 09 :The Mizoram government today issued an order to the effect that payment of power bills be suspended while the government looks into the matter of power bills that have become exorbitantly high after the August power tarrif hike.
The order said consumers are requested not to pay the power bills that have come to them after the recent power tarrif hike as the government is rechecking its billing system.
It has been reported that the MNF National Executive meeting of October 8 had discussed the matter of high power bills and had come to the conclusion that some Power department personnel were tampering with the billing system to embarass the government by deliberately making the bills high, taking advantage of the tarrif hike.
