Book Exhibition offers instalment payment
In a first of its kind, the Book Exhibition currently held at Vanapa Hall by the Kolkata firm Standard Literature is offering payments of its books on instalments. Asst Manager of this company, PK Chatterjee said the firm, which was extablished by an Englishman in 1908, had been creating milestones in book publications during its 95 years of existence. The intalment basis of payment is known as "pay as you read". The exhibition will conclude on Thursday.
NE Kashmir under MNF
The MPC youths, condemning the failure to apprehend criminals and the seizure of AK 47s in a vehicle owned by an MNF youth activist as well as the alleged support given by a prominent MNF leader in purchasing ammo for AK 47s for a rebel outfit asked whether the MNF government is trying to establish a big camp for rebels in the Northeast, not unlike Jammu & Kashmir. "The present situation that is prevailing in the state is most inappropriate for a state that prides itself as the most peaceful state," the MPC youths said.
Hminga wants a free and fair VC elections
Opposition Leader Lalhmingthanga today told newsmen that he would like a free and fair Village Council elections unlike the 1999 VC elections where the MNF government had distributed development funds amounting to Rs 143 lakhs with a sanctioning order that was signed so hurriedly that it had to be signed in the middle of the night.
Signing of MoU resulted in job losses : MPCY
The Mizoram Conference Party youths have blamed the Mizoram government for the job losses by muster roll workers, especially the 180 MR workers of Saitual PWD division. The MPCY said these cut down in jobs have come about as a result of the MoU signed by the Mizoram government with the Centre.
