Well folks here it is our 2005 cruise pics from Cozumel, Key West, Belize and Universal Studios. My best friend and roommate Matt decided in early May that he wanted to go on a cruise and to treat both my hubbie and myself. I mean a free cruise, who am I to say NO to a gift horse in the mouth. The cruise was from September 24th to October 1st. We got to Florida and traveled to Port Canaveral. We boarded the ship after a grueling introduction to Carnivals security measures. I am going to throw up pictures in the order of ports of call. KEY WEST, BELIZE, COZUMEL, and UNIVERSAL STUDIOS.

I have been told by some that not everyone is a cruise person. Some people are tourists that like to be in one place and experience all that place has to offer. Some tourists are cruise people, who like extremely structured fun and a well planned out plan of attack on all they are to see and do. My hubbie and I are the one place kind of tourists. We like to be in an area and see what we want and on our time table.

The boat we are on was called the GLORY. It was a nice boat all in all, very spacious, very roomy. The decorations were terrible however. I mean, you can definately tell that the person who designed the decor was definately going for that Vegas style approach. In one word, tackey. Our state rooms were nice and most of the employee's on the boat were exceptional. We only had one major issue and thats about all. To save time I am just going to say that I do not recommend Carnival Cruise Lines to anyone. The food ranged from excellent to terrible. The drinks were watered down, and the activities on board were lame and over emphasized. Now mind you this is just my opinion and should be seen as just what it is, MINE. I know some people love cruises and Carnival, but personally, I would rather crawl naked on my belly over broken glass than ever do another Carnival Cruise ever again.

Now I am not saying that the cruise was a total mess, but me personally I dont like having fun jammed down my throat 24/7. If you have ever been to summer camp, then you understand fun being jammed down your throat. Thats basically what this felt like to me. I had an image in my head of what a cruise would be like. This definately did not compare to what I had been imagining. I guess when ya fantasize about something and inflat that in your head and it doesn't come around exactly like ya thought, you tend to be dissappointed.
Actually the picture to the left was the first one taken and was at Port Canaveral. Port Canaveral houses both Carnival and Disney's ocean going fleet. Every day Carnival sponsors a new house specialty drink. These fine drinks are normally a rum cornucopia of alcohol and several other liquores mixed in. These drinks we are holding were very strong and we found that we had a good buzz after only 4 or 5. As a bonus, you get to keep the glasses as a momento of your livers death. I will have to say, that the specialty drinks were a good value all and all and I highly recommend them to anyone that finds him/herself stranded on a Carnival ship.
This is a picture of my hubbie and I after our first dinner in the formal dining room. The dining room is a very nice place. The only draw back on this is that the dining room is located several decks above the main propellars. Besides the noise and the occational lurching, I found the dinning room to my liking. Most of the foods we had there were delicious, however we found that since they had been mass prepared, they tended to lack a certain amount of freshness. Some of the foods you would think that would be spicey actually ended up tasting rather bland. All in all we liked the foods we tried in the main dining room. I recommend the veal, and make sure ya tip your waiter....LOL
Title:
DEATH BY
TACKYNESS
As i said before the decore of this boat was tacky as all get up. This picture right here was screaming to be made. This huge attempt at a peacock feather sits outside of one the GLORY'S plythoria of bars. This image was taken infront of their karoake bar called BAR BLUE.  Yes folks, the rest of the ship is done up just as tackey. Now don't get me wrong, some of the bars were well decorated. The Ivory room was magnificent along with several others. The art on this boat, and there was alot of it, was the most gawd aweful stuff I have ever seen in my life. I really dont like to be to harsh or to opinionated on this as i don't want people thinking ill of me, but when it walks like bad art, looks like bad art, and smells like bad art, guess what folks its bad art. Anyone that has gay friends can tell you that bad art is one issue that gets under our skins quicker than a fart in a submarine. We were going to go around for one of our " FUN DAYS AT SEA" and photograph all the bad art and when we got home publish a book called DEATH BY CRAPPY ART. Be thankful we decided to play cabin boy and captain instead that day....MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
<===TACKY AS HELL, or what?
Believe it or not this was a light fixture above the main dining room entry way. I thought it would have been much better if they made it out of glass and not cheesy cheap plastic. I mean if your going to spend millions of dollars on a boat anyways, do it right people...JEEZ

Our first port of call was Key West, Florida. Carnival offers a wide range of activities known as shore excurtions. We decided weeks before the cruise what we wanted to do and booked these excurtions in advance. In Key West we decided that we wanted to do the Key West Butterfly Conservatory and the aquarium. The following pictures were taken by me there. If you see any pictures you would like, please feel free to add them to your photo galleries. This butterfly experience was incredible and I recommend it for old and young alike. I mean being in this autrium full of butterflies is simply a beautiful and amazing experience. We also stopped at the Key West Aquarium. It was a terribly underfunded aquarium and was not as impressive as the butterfly conservatory was. If you are ever in Key West, please take the butterfly conservatory tour. Trust me you won't be disappointed.

Along with the butterflie's is an incredible amount of rare and exotic plants and rare birds. Each species of moth or caterpillar has a specific plant they prefer to munch on. Throughout this atrium were tons of indigenious plants and tons of imported exotic plants from the Far East, India and all over the world. We got to see species of butterflies from all over the world. I mean, we all see our traditional local variety moths and butterflies, but we never really get to see the rarest of the rare. I mean, to walk into this atrium and see all the flora, fauna and fish was a real treat for both me and my partner. I mean at one point we actually had butterflies landing on us. You never totally understand beauty, for everyone has a different idea of what is beautiful and what is not. " BEAUTY IS IN THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER". As a Botanist, I was amazed at all the plants. I took several pictures of the flora here, not all of them came out as expected, but the ones that did.........WOW.
