Here's a list of bands I like. This is in no way a complete list, I'll keep adding bands as I think of them. As this list will reveal, I am no indie elitist freak. I don't have the time or energy to go looking for bands. Yes, most of the new stuff on the radio is crap. Oh well. At least some of it is listenable. Jamil is responsible for most of the metal bands here, Dan is responsible for Radiohead, Brian for Porno for Pyros (and through them, Jane's Addiction) and Rush, the late Douglas Adams (author of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy) for Procol Harem, and my brother T.J. for August Avenue, Ozma, and Cake. Thanks for opening my eyes, guys.
- 311
- 3 Dog Night (can't put my finger on why I like 'em so much, but I do)
- August Avenue(bet you haven't heard of them :) )
- Beastie Boys (Who knew that three Jewish guys from Brooklyn could sound so good?)
- The Beatles (most influential rock group...ever, and forever)
- Blind Guardian
- Bloodhound Gang (the lyrics are worth the sub-par instrument accompaniment)
- Cake (very offbeat sound, but quite effective. We ever gonna get a new CD?)
- Eric Clapton (possibly the best blues/rock guitarist)
- The Clash
- Collective Soul
- Creed (this is a joke. Creed can go burn in hell, where they belong)
- The Cure (they're good, in spite of what you might hear)
- The Darkness
- Dave Matthews Band (fiddle solos. 'Nuff said.)
- Deftones (Chino's voice will be gone before long if he keeps screaming)
- The Doors
- Dream Theater (awesomeness)
- Everclear (Typical hard grunge, nice lyrics to boot)
- Foo Fighters (Drums, Guitar, Bass, singing/screaming.....great rock)
- Fountains of Wayne (I liked 'em before Stacy's Mom, Red Dragon Tattoo is way better)
- Fuel (didn't think much of 'em until I saw 'em. They rock.)
- Green Day (Dookie!!)
- The Guess Who
- Iced Earth (great power metal)
- Iron Maiden (Go ahead, make fun. I like 'em. Great early metal stuff.)
- Jane's Addiction
- Korn (the downtuned 7-strings are pretty cool)
- Led Zepplin (regardless of what you think of Page, the music sounds good)
- Linkin Park (ESPECIALLY Hybrid Theory. That album is one of the best.)
- Megadeth
- Metallica (old stuff)
- The Offspring (Smash especially. Pay the Man on Americana kicks ass too)
- Ozma (will they ever get on the radio?)
- Pearl Jam
- Pink Floyd (Dark Side of the Moon is an amazingly excellent album)
- Porno for Pyros
- The Presidents of the United States of America
- Procol Harem
- Radiohead (Dan turned me on to them, I bought Kid A. Didn't think I'd like it, but I was wrong. Thanks, Dan!)
- Ramones
- Rancid
- Red Hot Chili Peppers (does any one NOT like the Peppers?)
- Rush
- Sublime
- Savatage (It's stupid and overly-internety to do this, but the only possible thing to say about Savatage is ......\\m// )
- Tenacious D (even has Dave Grohl on the drums)
- Tool
- The Who
