Sclerotherapy
What is Sclerotherapy?
Sclerotherapy can be carried out by coagulation technique or by injecting of a harmless solution to treat problematic thread vein area.
How does it work?
A small amount of the solution is injected into target vessels using a micro-needle. It is an irritant and on entering the vessel causes the area to blanch (turn white) as it pushes the blood out and begins to irritates the blood vessel's wall. The continuous irritation causes contractions and eventual collapse of the wall, thus preventing the blood from re-entering the vessel. Results should be visible in 4-6 weeks
Coagulation is usually used to treat very superficial capillaries on both face and body. The electric current is passed trough a micro-needle and vessel is coagulated, blanched. It can be quite uncomfortable. The redness will appear after the treatment and it will dissappear in a few days. A scab may form, which will peel off as soon as te area heals.
On most occasions you may need more than one treatment. Your registered practitioner will discuss the options with you during your consultation.
Who can have this treatment?
Thread and Spider Veins is often hereditary and can be suffered by both men and women although it is more common in women, often as a result of pregnancy or hormonal issues.
Those currently pregnant or lactating are unable to have Sclerotherapy as well as those who have previously suffered with phlebitis, DVT or any other circulatory issues.
Are there any adverse reactions or side effects?
You may experience slight bruising or swelling in the treated area which should have subsided in two weeks. In the rare case that it takes bruising/swelling persists then further medical help must be sought.
In certain skin types there is a small chance that Sclerotherapy will cause pigmentation problems.
Is there any aftercare I should be aware of?
It is advisable to wear compression bandages or stockings for 72 hours after treatment which should then be worn for a further 2 weeks during the day time only. Results and healing time will be helped by the use of creams containing vitamin K, which actively decrease bruising and reduces pigmentation after the treatment.
If swelling after treatment is particularly uncomfortable an ice pack can be applied to help reduce it. No make-up for 48 hours for any of the treated facial areas. Please use cooling gels or lotions such as aloa vera or wich hazel. High factor sun block will be required untill a complete healing.
Will these Thread/Spider Veins reappear?
Unfortunately Sclerotherapy is not a preventative treatment and therefore there is always a possibility that new veins will appear in the area. Good diet, regular exercise, avoiding saunas and prolonged exposure to sun will reduce apperance of the thread veins.

This treatment helps improve dull, tired looking skin; dry, lifeless skin, superficial wrinkles and celulite areas on the body.
How is it done?
A series of superficial injections are done by hand or with an injection device delivering rapid injections for larger areas. Normally it is well tolerated, but for sensitive areas anaesthetic cream can be used prior to the treatment. Initially a course of 6-8 sessions are advised every 2 weeks, with maintenance 1-2 times a year.

Hand Rejuvenation
What is it?
The hands can reveal our true age. Although there are many aesthetic improvements for the face, neck and body, until recently satisfactory treatments for hands have been left behind. Fortunately, today, there are numerous techniques that can be used turn back the clock for aging hands.
Our hands are continuously subjected to the damaging effects of the environment and these everyday strains of wear and tear can have a significant effect on their premature aging over time.
Long-term exposure to sun can leave brownish discolorations spots. Skin becomes thinner with advancing years. Veins at the back of hands become dilated and more visible. The walls of the blood vessels become more fragile and blood cells can leak through them after minor injuries. Degradation products from these leaked cells can stain the skin yellowish- brown. With aging we lose fat and skin thickness, which makes the hands look bony and unattractive. The small joints of hands undergo wear and tear, and this can cause the knuckles to become thickened and unsightly.
Advanced hand rejuvenation methods combat all the problems associated with hand aging. We can combine injectable treatments with chemical peels and special product range for home care.
