Today I watched The Crow. It was a pretty good movie. A good gothic love kind of movie. I suppose there arent a lot of movies in that category. It was weird to watch though, because I had just watched Clockwork Orange a few days before.
In Clockwork Orange we are to sympathize with the rapers and criminals. In Clockwork Orange, when the people get their revenge they are the villains, because Alex cant fight back. Its definitely an odd and interesting angle.
In The Crow, the rapers and criminals are villains. Eric, who comes back from the dead to seek revenge on these criminals, is the hero. The revenge doesnt really accomplish anything. I mean, the criminals are dead and everything. I suppose its justice. But in Clockwork Orange, revenge is pointless. Revenge is savage, and unforgiving. The crimes are pretty much exactly the same in both movies. Its so weird to look at (for the most part) the same thing, from both angles at the same time. Who is really evil? Who is really good? Is revenge ever justified? |
