He is larger than the other lions. He has large eyebrows which blend in with two long, black locks of hair; likewise he has two other locks of hair hanging from his cheeks. His tail's tuft also has black fur, as do the bases of his fingers. His right ear carries a gold ring, which is nothing but a link of chain which he once carried.
History:
He was born in a cage, in the home of a Princess Lianka; a young African lover of science and animals. Since the lion was born on Lianka's birthday, she considered him to be a gift from the gods. He then became her pet. Natu slept inside her hut and accompanied her wherever she went, thus he learned human activities such as fishing, agriculture, astronomy, medicine, etc. The lion was always bound by a chain piercing one of his ears, and was therefore never kept with his owner's other animals. He did not know that his mother was in one of those other cages. When Natu was an adolescent, he was reunited with Brea, his mother, but he didn't recognize her. The humans had abandoned her, as she had become old and they no longer wanted to care for her. Brea warned her son that the same would happen to him if he didn't escape, but Natu did not pay attention to her; believing that the human village was his home. As the lioness left, she pointed out the chain in his ear: "If you belong at this place, why should you be bound by that chain?". Brea's words hurt Natu, who had never really noticed his bindings, but he did not go. The months passed, and the matter seemed to loose importance. The young lion tried to regain his happiness with his owner, but it became harder and harder to do so. She no longer left to take walks with him, and she no longer permitted him to enter her home. Lianka had had a child. One day, Natu managed to see it, and sadly discovered that the newborn didn't have any chain hanging from his ear. That same nigh, Natu destroyed the chain and fled towards the forest. His life in the wild brought many difficulties, but he soon began to make friends and was soon appreciated for his serenity and wisdom. In those times, the kingdom of Kube-Sha suffered under the reign of a selfish king. The lionesses from the kingdom had heard of Natu, and proposed that he become their new king. The then-monarch mocked him as Natu was still quite young, and for his own entertainment, allowed Natu to reign for two full phases of the moon. The kingdom flourished and returned to a paradise, and the subjects decided to exile the bad king. Natu restored the sovereignty of Kube-Sha, was loved and respected by all, and who's only interest was always serve the rest... On one occasion, Natu was invited by the rulers of a neighboring kingdom to a banquet. There, he met the king Mufasa, the queen Sarabi, and the wise shaman Rafiki; and they became great friends. He also met Scar and tried to convince him to forget about his grudges, but he didn't want to hear it. Kings and queens from other places also attended, and all congratulated Natu on his good performance as king. Upon returning home, Natu realized that a lot of confidence had been placed in him, and he decided to take a trip to test his own wisdom. As he was leaving his lands, Natu heard a light moan and decided to find out from where it had originated. He at a river and discovered a small wild dog fighting to avoid drowning in the water's current. The king rescued it, and carried it with him; as it had been abandoned. Immediately they became good friends. Natu appreciated the simplicity and candor of his traveling companion, Efi. Natu taught the dog philosophy, martial arts, and everything else she wanted to learn. Together they crossed the cast African lands and had all kinds of adventures such as a clash with human ivory traffickers, among others. Their final stop before returning home were the lands of King Mufasa, and while being escorted, received the sad news of the king's death. Natu remained a few days to help Simba restore his kingdom and construct a memorial for his father, but the sudden arrival of Nala forever changed his life.
