A fanatic of the sciences, she obtained many objects and documents from foreigners seeking to conquer the land, and even learning how to read their books while hiding and protecting her village. She ordered construction of a small observatory and for a zoo where felines, her favorite animals, could be kept. In her collection she had cheetas, leopards, servals, and lions, her favorite of all. In this zoo, Natu was born; and presented to her as a birthday gift. The young woman adopted it, believing him to be a good omen, and carries him with her wherever she goes; although he is bound by a chain as a precaution. When the girl reached adulthood, many suitors began to court her. She is disappointed to discover that all seem to be seeking the zeal of power and riches, and there fore decides to have a child with the poorest of her subjects. Lianka has his child without revealing who the father is to anyone, gradually paying less and less attention to Natu until he decides to escape upon seeing that her son was never bound by a chain. The princess is very saddened when Natu leaves. However, Lianka had never suspected that Brea (Natu's mother, now free) had previously come looking to kill the princess to take revenge for having separated Brea from Natu during their many years of captivity. She abandoned her objective upon seeing the human child; as it saddened her to leave it orphaned. Eventually, one of Lianka's suitors discovers that she has a son, and in a fit of jealousy decides to reveal the existence of the village to the foreigners who then invade the place and take the princess prisoner along with her son and all of her people; including the jealous suitor. The animals in the zoo are killed, and their skins sold; while Lianka spends the rest of her life as a slave, feeling the same confinement that caused so much suffering to so many animals.
