Slicktops!

Every department knows the value of the slicktop patrol vehicle. They are called under-cover or un-marked cars as well depending how they are marked. The purpose mostly is for traffic enforcement. I've said that if you drive in Michigan you know you can spot that big bubble a mile away. The MSP has only a few of these cars per post area. The graphics remain the same as other units, however, they use a different system of light equipment.

Currently, the MSP is using LED's for the fleet vs. the whelen strobes. Any good police agency is finding out the importance of using LED's. They are efficient and able to be seen for miles. They save amp draw from the battery as well. Also notice the new wrap around bumper system by Setina! The set up is the same, two LED's on the bumper, LED's on each outboard mirror, and RED/BLUE LED's on the rear deck. No blue light facing forward on these vehicles.

Formerly, MSP used two red alternating strobes mounted on the cross-bar of the push bumpers and alternating "wig-wag" headlights. To the side there are two strobes mounted on the out-board rear view mirrors. The rear has red and blue strobes mounted on the rear deck and "wig wags" between the brake lights and reverse lights. All units are equiped with radar as well.
