Date of checkup: 14 June 2002

Well, technically by today I am still one day shy of the 38th week-mark, but since the schedule for June 15 is full, my parents decided to see the doctor earlier. Not that they are anticipating anything new, anyway. The same tests indicated that everything is A-okay -- except for one surprising thing: my weight, which is now estimated at around 3.6 kg! Mom could almost roll her eyes in disbelief at the doctor. I mean, just six days ago I was estimated at around 3 kg, and here I am gaining more than half a kilo in almost a week? Nah, maybe these are only "guesstimates" at best. But gain or no gain, Mom is increasingly becoming uncomfortable carrying me around, especially at night when it is almost impossible to find a comfortable position. Lately Mom has become a night-prowler, finding herself still awake in the wee hours of the morning.

Just 15 more days to go until D-Day!

In the know:
The baby's intestines are accumulating considerable meconium, a dark-green mass of cells and waste products from the baby's liver, pancreas, and gall bladder. The meconium in the baby's intestines will be eliminated shortly after birth, but it sometimes can be eliminated before, if the birth is delayed too long. In the latter case, fecal material will be present at birth in the amniotic fluid.
