PROJECTS:
| Pattern
Recognition using Artificial Neural Networks
(MINOR PROJECT OF 6TH SEMESTER). |
This
project provides a means to extract the handwritten or printed data filled into
a form/document and then store them into the corresponding database. An OCR
technology is used to get the document off the paper and onto the computer.
The implementation has been done using the Error
Back Propagation algorithm of Artificial Neural Networks.

Environment: Backend using Visual C++ and front end using Java in MS
Windows 98 version.
| Database project on Student
Record Management of the college. |
This
project serves to manage the students’ records of the college online. It
consists of three different modules: the general information module containing
the information about every student and faculty and staff, next is the
administrative module. The third module contains updations like timetable and
general yearly calendar etc.
Special consideration has been made in implementing
security related features.

TECHNICAL
PAPERS PRESENTED/ SOFTWARES DEVELOPED/ SYMPOSIUMS PARTICIPATED:
| A paper on "Commands
Transfer Protocol (CTP), a networking protocol for parallel computation
clusters" presented at Mindbend 04 at Sardar Vallabhbhai
National Institute of Technology, Surat. |
Majority of parallel
computation software toolkits are represented as libraries, which use standard
general-purpose networking protocols (TCP/IP, in most cases). There are a lot of
disadvantages of using this protocol. Also size of UDP datagram is limited by
65467 bytes. Of course, specialized networking protocol can be adapted to
special requirements, which arise for cluster computations. So, CTP is a
protocol that is to satisfy needs of arbitrary distributed parallel computations
platform.
| A paper on "Genetic
Design of Fuzzy Controllers" presented at Cognizance 04 at
Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee. |
This paper considers the
application of genetic algorithms as a general methodology for automatically
generating fuzzy process controllers. The key to this method, demonstrated on
the classic cart-pole problem, is to represent each fuzzy system as an unordered
list of an arbitrary number of rules. By using a compact rule base
representation, successful systems evolve quickly, increasing the likelihood of
success when applied to more complex problems.
| A paper on "Remote Processes and Machine
Control of Windows NT based systems (2000/XP)" presented at the
SPCTS 03 organized by Gujarat University and jointly by IEEE Gujarat
Section. |
There are times a
Windows network administrator would like to control certain aspects of machines
sitting remotely, without having to install and trigger an application on the
remote machine, which will communicate with the administrator's machine. There
is one server application (one per remote machine), which has to be triggered on
the remote machine automatically (without any user intervention), when a request
for monitoring and control, is made to it. This server application will send
periodic processes updates to the client. The client can also request certain
other tasks to the server application like triggering a new process, kill an
existing process on the remote machine. If required, requests to reboot or shut
down the remote machine can also be made.
§
Software on
designing of an application layer firewall (currently working on it as a
live project).
The working of the firewall is based on the
following steps: Extract the packet header, Check the protocol associated,
compare with the rules, check the source and destination add, if protocol is
same, check out the port if protocol is TCP, drop or pass the packet.
