I had a bilateral mastectomy for invasive ductal carcinoma in 2006.

I attempted reconstruction with implants, but developed Baker class 4 capsular contracture twice. I had one implant in the middle of my chest and one up towards my shoulder. I looked like a Picasso painting!

The pain was terrible. When I told my plastic surgeon I wanted the implants removed, he was angry and said I was giving up too fast. He wanted to try again with another set of implants. Fortunately, I had done my research and knew that each time you get capsular contracture it gets worse. I had my implants removed and am finally pain-free.
