    I had a prophylactic mastectomy on June 19th with expanders for reconstruction. Well, the expanders were a nightmare and failed miserably. Finally, I decided to have it all taken out. I figured I would rather know if something were growing in there, and, with implants, how can you be sure?

    After much thought, prayer and consideration I underwent the removal surgery on Jan 15th, 2007 and woke up and went home.

    To my amazement, I feel so free and there was little pain from the surgery. I am totally flat and I do plan to wear a prosthesis, but not at home. My kids are happy as clams that I had it all taken out. The expanders are extremely painful during the expansion process.
