Terms and acronyms of the common RotJ mudder (Sc: Boredathomus Hasinternetus)

afk Away From Keyboard - not at the computer, or not in the mudding client window

age eq prepurge age had a great influence on how much you regenerated per tick, currently age doesn't do much, but some items still modify your age

aggy/aggro mob that attacks without provocation

align                 your alignment, ranges from good to evil. jedi get cheaper spells when good, sith get cheaper spells when evil
alt                     alternate character; other characters you have created
aura                  your alignment - blue is good, red is evil
auran's              auran's spaceship repair shop, n e e s from PORT.

bak back at (the) keyboard; no longer AFK

bbiab be back in a bit

bh bounty hunter (non-subber guild)

boost bodyguard level 100 skill

botting running triggers or scripts to stay connected to the mud while AFK. One step worse would be using triggers and scripts to play your character (like doing xp, prac skills, etc.) while you are AFK. This is illegal, botting will get you into tons of trouble.

bs backstab

buff said of a player or MOB with a lot of hit points, mana, levels, or whatever, e.g. "Man, Darth Vader is buff!"

cats the Sith Catacombs in the Minos Cluster
char character

clan                 A group of allied players
clan hall           A special zone accessible only to members of a clan
clan war           When two or more clans declare war on each other
combat spam   The spam created by all the messages when a large group is in combat
conv                 an energy converter for a personal weapon
corpse looting   taking equipment from the corpse of a player (ok if you PKILL the player, otherwise a REALLY bad idea...)
crash                when the mud crashes due to a bug or whatever. Can be good or bad.
creds                credits, RotJ's unit of money

dam                     (old code) DAMROLL, a stat which affects how hard you hit
dam eq                (old code) equipment with a +DAMROLL stat
dark room            a room in which you cannot see without a light of some kind.
dbs                      double backstab (Pirate skill)

dc                        disconnect (an immortal command)
dc'ed                   a player who has been disconnected
derob                   bored to tears, so bored you fall over backwards
DG (Death's Gate) a scripting language used by RotJ
docking                the Docking Bay, n from PORT
DS                        the Death Star
DT (1)                    a death trap (room that kills you instantly, cannot get eq back)
DT (2)                    a DarkTrooper (mob that kills you instantly, can sometimes get eq back
duel                      a player vs. player fight in the Duelling Arena, w w duel from PORT.
dueling                  the Dueling Arena: go to NEWS ROOM and type duel

EH Emperor's Hand (subguild)

eq equipment

exping To go on a RUN with the intent of gaining experience points

find                     usually, to use the skill 'find prey'
fix align               to to kill certain MOBs with the intent of becoming good or evil.
flag (old code)     a (KILLER) or (SMUGGLER) designation that is attached to a player
force com            force combat
force load            to continually kill a MOB with the hope that its equipment will LOAD
fs                        to cast the spell 'force storm' on a room of MOBs, e.g. "I spent all day FSing on Naboo."

geh! to denounce something as not good, e.g. "I just died. GEH!"
gewbar mook, the old skool version (originally this was the text displayed when somebody used the summon spell)

gret                     to group retreat
gretter                 see GROUP RETREATER
group retreater     a body guard who can use the 'group retreat' skill
grouping             forming a group with other players

h2h hand to hand (combat type)

heff's                 Crazy Old Heff's Force Store, s s w w n from PORT
hit                      HITROLL, a stat which affects how often your attacks are successful
hotel                  The Lucky Despot Hotel, s e e u from PORT. This is where you type "rent" to exit the game and store your eq so you have it again next time you enter the game.

imm immortal (administrator of the mud)

immed                   said of a player who has become an IMMORTAL
immortal                 a member of the game's staff
immorted                see IMMED
immorting               becoming an immortal; in game, type: help immorting
inv                         inventory

invis immortal in invisible mode

iced                       transferred to the Ice Box (a form of punishment)
IG                           to hire the bounty hunter IG-88 on someone, or IG-88 itself
ion                         To use your ship's ion cannons in space on another ship

JM Jedi Master (subguild)

juice Usually mana, e.g. "I'm outta juice"
jump (1) A hyperspace jump (the coordinates to a planet or zone)

jump (2) An exit direction from a room. Jedi and Sith have Force Jump as a skill to use these exits, other classes need to use grappling hooks or liquid cable dispensers to leave in a "jump" direction.

k 1000, as in 50k = 50000 credits. NOTE: Numbers by themselves USUALLY mean millions (ie a bid of 1.2 on auction means 1.2 MILL, not 1.2 credits!
kill stealing to attack a MOB that is being fought already by another player. extremely bad idea. NOTE: If you see a player in a room with a MOB, always ASK FIRST before attacking the MOB!

landing                 the Mos Eisley landing platform, n e e from PORT
ld                         linkdead, a player who has lost connection to the MUD but did not rent or quit
l/d                         see LD
leech                    someone who begs constantly for exp, levelling, or credits
legend                  (old code) a player who accumulated LEGEND POINTS for killing certain BUFF mobs.
legend's lounge     (old code) a room under the Mos spaceport that was open to LEGENDs only
legend mobs         (old code) Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Boba Fett, Darth Maul, Yoda, and the Death Star
legend points        (old code) earned for killing LEGEND MOBS, 1 per MOB, to a max of 50 (legend level 10)
legend run            (old code) a RUN to kill LEGEND MOBS
level(ing) eq         (old code) +con and +int eq that helps you get more hitpoints and mana when you gain a level
load (1)                 to give equipment to a MOB; also, when that equipment is present on a MOB; e.g. "Boba Fett loaded his armor!"
load (2)                 to put a MOB in a room
load rate               The percentage chance that a MOB or object will LOAD
locate                   to cast the spell 'locate object'
lp (old code)         a LEGEND POINT
lr (old code)          a LEGEND RUN

mb                          minimum bid, the lowest price a seller will accept for an item they are auctioning.

mook silly person, idiot, can be used as a playful insult

mfd (old code)         marked for deletion - you will be deleted if you die
mob                        (mobile) a monster, creature, or other NPC
mon                         the social, news, or immortal monitor/bulletin boards
mort                         a mortal (regular player)
moves                     see MV
mv                           movement points. movement points are used to move around the world. some rooms (like a podracer course) require more movement points for you to move through them, and so you can become fatigued and be unable to move any further (until you rest a bit)

newbie (1)             a new player
newbie (2)             a player who refuses to learn the rules of the game, or simply a bad/whiny/stupid player.
news                     the News Room, w w from PORT
nocom                   to turn off your comlink, e.g. "I'm going nocom" you will stop receiving the public channels if you are nocom. some rooms and zones in the mud are flagged nocom, in here, regardless of what your comlink is set to, you will not be able to receive public channels
notell                     same as nocom but just with tells instead

oldbie person who has been playing the mud for a long time "Paralyse is an oldbie :-)"

pass out                     use a tatooine bus pass/probe or word of recall to return to port
perm light                   a light that does not expire
personal                     a player's personal weapon or battle armor
pk                              see PKILL
pkill                            when one player kills another

plevel                         a Piloting level
ploot                           see CORPSE LOOTING
prim                            primary class (maximum level 100)

prof proficiency

psteal                          to steal from a player
poir (old code)             the spell 'heal'
port                             The Mos Eisley Space Port
prequel                        the Prequel board room, w w w from PORT
proc                             see SPEC
purge (1)                      to delete a player or disconnect him
purge (2)                      when an immortal clears a room of all objects, players or MOBs
purge (3)                     when all players are deleted to implement new code changes (This happened recently)
pwipe                         see purge (3)

quit used to quit the game and drop all eq being worn and in inventory on the ground

r?                           ready to go?
raped                     to be killed or severely injured, usually by an AGGIE MOB, e.g. "The Darktrooper just raped me!"
refol                        to stop following a player and then immediately follow them again

regen/catch a tick sleep or meditate before the tick for more hp/mana/move restoration

regen eq                (old code) +age eq that allowed you to recover more hit points/mana/movement
room attack             a spell or skill that attacks every player or MOB in a room.
run                          to form a group with the purpose of killing MOBs, getting an item, etc, e.g. "Let's do a Mandalore run"

saber lightsaber (weapon type, combat type)

sec seconday class (maximum level 40)

sentinel               a mob that does not wander around the MUD on its own.
serve                  to serve the Emperor and gain double xp in exchange for deletion if you die
server death        when a person who is serving the Emperor dies
SL                      Sith Lord (subguild)

slag                    to kill, esp. to kill a space MOB
smite                  what happens if you harass an immortal, e.g. "I just got smited by Kahn!"
snoop                 to watch another player's screen (imm command)
social                  the Social Room, w w s from PORT
spam                  repeated text, or too much text
spec                   a special procedure: usually, a special type of attack that a MOB can do, e.g. "Vader's arm slash spec just killed me!"
stabber                a weapon that can be used for backstab
subbed                lost an item to SUBBER DEATH, e.g. "I just subbed Darktrooper Armor! GEH!"
subber (1)            to subguild (at level 60, you can choose to specialize in one of two different SUBGUILDs for your class.)
subber (2)             see SUBBER DEATH
subber death        when you die at level 60 or higher, there is a random chance that items will not reload in your corpse.
suicide (1)             to kill a mob or player by repeatedly attacking and dying
suicide (2)             use thermal self

trans                 as an immortal, to transfer a player somewhere
transed transferred (when a player is taken somewhere by an immortal)
trip steal            to trip a MOB in order to steal its equipment (normally, you can only steal things from its inventory)

uber supreme, best, impressive

vap                    the Mos Eisley Vaporator, s from PORT
vape                  see SLAG
vault                   the Darktrooper Vault, always

wd                         see WITHDRAW
whack                      to kill something, esp. a player
wigt (old code)         the spell 'mask'
withdraw                   to cancel your bid on an auction in progress

word completion       mud feature where you don't have to type the full word for the mud to recognize what you are referring to. Eg. if you type "k dr" and you're in a room with a krayt dragon you will essentially have said "kill dragon" and thus you will start fighting the dragon.
wtb (i)                      want to buy (whatever), e.g. "<AUCTION: Paralyse> wtb Darth Maul's saber"
wttf (i)                     want to trade for (whatever)

xp experience points

y-wing type of spaceship, specifically a bomber. ship type is fighter, the smallest there is.

zone hog a player who sits around in a zone until it ZRESETs
zreset When a zone resets and loads new MOBs after X number of ticks.
