| Botanical Park - Wildflower Gardens The Wildflower Gardens are accessed through the Orchid Garden, and the Cliff Garden. This area covers almost 6000 sqm, and is home to several types of wildflowers. There are 2 main areas which have carpets of paper dasies, orchids, and even flytraps, under a canopy of very old White Gum trees. Due to the very dry winter of 2006 which caused almost 80% of the paper dasies to be wiped out, a mass re-seeding will be conducted throughout the wildflower gardens, which will ensure a spectacular carpet of wildflowers this season. The park's largest population of cowslip orchids are also located here, with an estimated 300 plants in 2006, up from only 20 in 2005, should put up a good show aswell. |
