Mount Vernon Estate & Botanical Park
Botanical Park - Cliff Gardens The Cliff Gardens are still in the planning stage. The gardens would be made up of cliff top walking trails with several lookout points that lead down into the valley bottom via some steep decents. The Cliff Gardens would cover an area approx 5000 sqm and would even include a creek with a few ponds. There would be 1km of walking trails which would need a high level of fitness to complete. The majority of the plants here would include cycads, grass trees, ferns, and areas of exposed granite rock faces with various native plants growing in the cracks. An area is also being investigated for suitability for the creation of a small granite cave formation which would also house various cave entry native plants. When you visit the gardens, please remember to keep to the walking tracks, to ensure minimal environmental impact as the area is subject to extensive re-habilitation due to dieback.
Opening Times of the year. The Cliff Gardens are due to open sometime in July/August 2008 with about 500m of walking trails avaliable for stage 1, the remaining areas the following year.
