Cool Educational Websites for Kids!

The internet has an abundance of educational websites for your child where s/he can learn and have fun at the same time! These are the websites I have examined closely and highly recommend.

Book Adventure - This website is a reading motivation program for children in grades K-8. Children create their own book lists from over 6,000 recommended titles, take multiple choice quizzes on the books they've read offline, and earn points and prizes for their literary successes. The challenge will be to keep them off Funology long enough to get the benefits from this website.
Funology - This website has it all: educational games, brain teasers, puzzles, quizzes, healthy recipes, riddles, downloadable images, magic tricks, and more. It also has science projects and experiments to try and rates children's products. However, the pop-up ads are annoying.
Brain Quest - This website has educational games and puzzles that make learning fun. The biggest hit is the Brain Quest game which asks the student math, language, science, social studies at their skill level. It includes accurate facts and is easy to use. Unfortunately, it lacks variety and is limited in its educational scope.
Yahooligans - The primary function of this website is a search engine for children. It also includes games, references, science, jokes, news, and other areas of interest for children. The search engine is terrific in that it weeds out all the nonsense and helps students and teachers get to valuable content quickly. No negatives to report.
Enchanted Learning - This website has some great content: activities, crafts, reference sources, nursery rhymes, and perhaps the most valued content, an accurate, full collection of information suitable to students on many common themes. What brings the site down is the terribly unorganized, scattered, ugly layout of the website.
Fun Brain - This website is a great one for teachers to use to organize their curriculum and post spelling and other tests for students. It also has math and grammar games that are kind of fun but need some work. It's a little disorganized and has little other than math and language.
Fun School - This website rocks. It offers educational games and activities, trivia, crafts, links to other good sites, clip art, puzzles, and more. It's organized by grade and the most popular content. It's very colorful and easy to use. The advertising portrays violence and is redundant and obnoxious.
