Introduction
In this unit, students will explore
the role of an archaeologist, learn about Egyptian mummies, and synthesize
their knowledge in a speech.
Often when students learn
about Egypt in school, their learning touches on
several topics (such as pyramids, mummies, and hieroglyphics), while no one
topic is really explored in depth.
Furthermore, when students learn about these topics, they rarely learn
about the discoveries that gave us so much knowledge about them. With this WebQuest,
students are given an opportunity to deeply explore the topic of mummies. By also exploring the role of
archaeologist, students will not only learn about mummies, but also about
expert study in this field.
This lesson
was developed in the course Teaching
with WebQuests , a course offered by the Teacher Education Institute.
