Where I've Been

I was born and raised on Long Island.  I graduated from Syosset High School in 1995.  I received my BA cum laude from Dartmouth College in 1999 majoring in Biology and fulfilling the requirements for New Hampshire elementary education certification.  Following graduation, I returned to New York and began teaching 5th and 6th grades at James H. Vernon.  Not long ago I received my Masters Degree from Columbia University Teachers College in Cognitive Studies in Education.  Just this year, I began teaching Gifted and Talented, still at James H. Vernon.

My Life as an Educator

I have always viewed myself as both a teacher and a learner.  Following an amazing internship at Thetford Elementary School in Thetford, Vt while I was on a leave term from Dartmouth, I decided that I wanted to become a teacher.  From that day forward I have pursued interests in elementary education, gifted education, and neurobiology/cognitive studies - always trying to figure out how the brain works and how learning happens, then trying to apply that knowledge to education.

When I'm Not Working...

I like to spend time at home with Emma, my Golden Retriever and Theo, my 15.5 lb black cat.
