"Terror is only justice that is prompt, severe and inflexible" these are the words from Maximillian Robespierre.

Robespierre had an awful childhood, which reflected upon his character in his later life. When he was nine years old, his mother passed away from an unknown sickness. His father was so devastated by this loss, that he abandoned his children to close relatives. Robespierre was always a very intelligent boy; on his own he studied law, and became a very respected and intelligent lawyer.

On July 27, 1793, Robespierre was elected into the Committee of Public Safety, and worked his way to the top. The threats that France had from other European countries of envasion, led upon the Reign of Terror. During this time, Robespierre was executing whoever he thought apposed a threat to France. Many citizens were extremely upset with the huge amounts of taxes that they had to pay. Robespierre's idea was to just execute anyone who was thought to have apposed the revolution, or was committed with treason.

Robespierre was sentenced to the guillotine July 26, 1794, without trial.
