The Reign of terror began after the execution of King Louie XVI. And it was braught to a end when Robespieere was executed. During this time, France held many executions. Whatever age, sex, or conditon a person was in, if the committe thought was a threat. The last six weeks of the terror, which was considered the "Red Terror" in Paris alone, about fourteen hundered people were guioteened. On October 1795, the Convention was replaced with the Directory, which was then turned into the Consulate in 1799.
