King Louis XVI was the grandson of the former king of France, King Louis XV. Louie began to take control of France in 1754-1793. In 1770, he married an Austrian women who was Marie Antoinette. While Louie was in power, France suffered sever debt. Calonne was then appointed to become Prime Minister of France in 1783 to assist Louie in his sever debts. After taking extremly large portions of money from the court, in 1763 he then reached his limit. After trying to raise the taxes among the French citizens, Louie was forced to call a meeting of Estates-General in Versailles on May 5, 1789.

Louis was over whelmed by his control, and during this time didn't know what to make of it. After seeing how his decisions were for the worst of France, the mob imprisoned his whole family. Louie then tried to flee from France in 1791, but was captured and returned to Paris. The National Convention declared France to be a republic, and then trialed Louie for all of his crimes. King Louie was then executed on January 20, 1793.
