Power of the Elements of the Stones
Episode 5
Tomorrow�
They all slept well, considering they were in the middle of the woods with no pillows or blankets. They just slept on the forest floor.
Tally: -wakes up- What time is it? �looks at watch- 6:00. I wonder who I should wake up first? �looks around- Hmmm� -looks at Takara- Should I be evil? �walks up to her- Yup! �goes next to her ear- Wakey wakey, Tacky!
Takara: -groans and mutters-
Tally: Wakey wakey!
Takara: Alright, alright, I�m up. Leave me alone. Go wake someone else up.
Tally: Ok! �looks around- Who should I annoy next? �eyes settle on Kanai, who is sleeping peacefully nearby- Kanai�s turn! -goes to Kanai- Wakey wakey! Wakey wakey!
Kanai: -bolts upright- WHO STOLE MY BAGELS?! Huh? What? Where am I?
Tally: -looks a little surprised by this awakening- Uhhh� no one stole your bagels and you�re in the middle of the woods.
Kanai: Oh. Ok. �leaves to get ready for the day. It�s 6:15 and it�s starting to get light- (I wanted to put light out, but they�re already outside so it wouldn�t make sense)
Takara: -gets up and goes in a slightly different direction-
Melody: Where are they going?
Tally: -yelps- Oh, it�s just you, Melody. Your sapphire�s glowing again.
Melody: Kanai�s probably using her powers to see.
Melik: Good point.
Melody: -jumps-
Tally: -yelps- Oh, its just Melik.
Pen: So, we�ve got a screamer and three jumpers.
Tally: -yelps-
Melody+Melik: -jump- Will everyone stop that!
Bek: That�s got to be more annoying than the jumping and the screaming.
Melody+Melik: What? �look at each other- Oh.
Melody: It could be worse.
Pen: How?
Tally+Bek: -have left to get ready, laughing on the way-
Melody: -smiles at Pen- We could�
Melik: �finish each others� sentences�
Melody: �and ideas.
Pen: Stop! I get the idea!
Melody+Melik: Ok. (guess they got used to being twins pretty quick)
Sari: That looks kinda fun. I wanna try.
Pen: Sorry. You would have to be�
Melody: �a twin for that.
Pen: Why and how can you do that with everyone?
Melody: I can�t do it with everyone. Only you, Sari, Bek, and Melik. And I do it because�
Melik: �she can.
Melody: Thank you. Because I can.
Pen: grrr�
At this point, Kanai, Takara, Tally, Bek, and even Sari have gotten ready (she left unnoticed after she asked her question. Has anyone else noticed how quick little children get ready?) They�re staring at Melody, Melik, and Pen while they argue about this insignificant subject. Finally, Takara steps onto the tennis court.
Takara: When you guys are finished with your pointless argument, we can go.
Melody,Melik,+Pen: -notice everyone around them is ready and look at each other- Oh. Hang on. �glare and go in different directions-
Bek: I have a feeling this will be a long trip.
Takara: -sarcastically- Why in the world would you think that?
Sari: Why?
Kanai: Because of how those three act, probably�
Tally: I actually think this is kinda fun. Except for the whole being hunted so my best friend and his sister can be killed and their powers taken.
Sari: What?!
Bek: It�s nothing. Don�t listen. �glares at Tally-
Tally: Sorry. It slipped.
Melody+Melik: -interrupt. They got done at the same time- We�re back!
Sari: Where�s Pen?
Pen: Here! �comes out from behind the trees-
Bek: Are we ready to go?
Everyone else: Ready!
They got onto the four-wheelers and headed towards Mel City. Nobody got hit by stray tree branches� and no one talked until they reached the city line.
Melody: We should get off the four-wheelers now. We don�t want to�
Melik: � go cruising through town on motor vehicles.
Takara: -starts mumbling to herself-
Kanai: I agree.
Pen: With who?
Kanai: Takara. She�s got a point.
Melody: What�d she say?
Takara: Nothing. �angelic, thoughtful look appears on her face-
Tally: Don�t expect a response from Tacky when it comes to her muttering. Just ignore it. Half the time, it�s nothing at all. If she said something this time, it probably had something to do with you and Melik.
Takara: -smiles at Melody and Melik and walks towards the city-
Bek: Take it as an "I was talking about you and Melik" Melody.
Kanai: Yup. �follows Takara-
Sari: -has taken a liking to Kanai and follows-
Pen: Looks like Sari has a new friend.
Melody: Yeah�shouldn�t we be heading towards the library?
Tally: Uh-huh. Let�s go!
They head towards where they think the library is. While in town, they notice everyone�s either gone or hiding in their house.
Melody: Why is everyone so scared in this city?
Everyone: Huh?
Melik: How can you tell?
Melody: I can feel the tension in the air�can�t anyone else feel it?
Takara: Now that you mention it, the air feels thicker� we should hurry.
Pen: Let�s run. �everyone starts running-
They make it to the library. It�s a huge building with a sign on it.
Pen: -walks up to it- Opens at 8:30. What time is it?
Tally: -looks at watch- 8:15. Let�s wait here for the librarian.
15 minutes later, on the dot, a man walks up to the building. He looks at the 8 children I front of the door.
Man: Hello. What are you here for?
Melik: We�re here to do some research.
Man: Ok. My name is Mr. Miklos. You are welcome to stay here and research for as long as you need. What are your names?
They give their names. When Melody and Melik give their names, his eyes lighten up.
Miklos: Ah. Nice names. Especially here. Say, are you all from around here?
Takara: We�re visiting my parents. �everyone else glances at her questioningly, but when she doesn�t look at any of them, they look back-
Miklos: -looks closely at her- Ah, yes. I recognize you. Do your parents know you�re here?
Takara: Yeah. We just want to look something up. Can we go inside?
Miklos: Yes, yes. Of course. �unlocks the door and opens it- Here you go.
They all pile into the library. Bek, Melik, and Takara went to the books. Melody, Tally, and Pen went to the computers to look on the Internet. This left Sari with Kanai.
Kanai: Sooo�
Sari: Let�s go find a book to read!
Melody: Kanai, would you like to do that? I know Sari would like it.
Kanai: Ok. Let�s find a book, Sari.
Sari: Yay! �runs towards books-
Kanai: -sighs-
Melody: Thank you, Kanai. I think Sari really likes you.
Kanai: No problem. I know you and Melik really need to find out this information, seeing as how you released it.
Melody: Eheh. �sweatdrop- Pen needs to help, too, seeing as how he encouraged me to say the word.
Sari: I�m back. How about this one Kanai? �the book was "Walk Two Moons"-
Kanai: Haven�t read that one. Is it good?
Sari: Yup! I love this book. It�s one of my favorites.
Kanai: Alright. �starts reading- (it�s a really good book. Can�t remember who wrote it)
Melody: -smiles and continues on the Internet-
Melik: Takara, if you insult me for liking books so much, why didn�t you grab a computer?
Takara: I like to read, but I�m not obsessed about it.
Melik: And, do your parents really live here?
Takara: Yea, and?
Melik: Who do you live with?
Takara: Me, myself, and I.
Bek: Excuse me for interrupting your nice talk, but aren�t we supposed to be looking for books?
Melik+Takara: Sorry. �Takara glares at Melik and goes to a different part of the library-
Melody: -looking at a search engine�s results- Nothing� nothing� noth- Aha!
Pen: -already had abandoned the search and was playing a game- What?
Melody: Well, I know where the town got its name. It�s named after�
Miklos: Yes, from the person who originally sealed the elemental powers.
Melody: Yup. Apparantly, the person was a young woman named Mel. According to this, she was the element of ice.
Pen: -reading over her shoulder- When 8 of the other chosen ones rebelled, Mel used all of her power to seal the powers into two stones of blue color; a sapphire and an aquamarine.
Melik: -who had found a book- The legend goes that twin descendants of Mel will have the power to unleash and seal the power away. One will have Mel�s power, the power of ice�
Kanai: -she and Sari had abandoned the book- While the other, the sealer and unsealer, will have the liquified version, water.
Takara: Mr. Miklos, has anyone come into the library the past week or so? And, is anyone here now?
Miklos: Actually, no one besides you 8 have been here in the past couple of days. We have Seers here who told the people the elements were back in this world, so everyone has since stayed in their houses. Am I right in guessing all of you have the power?
Sari: Yup.
Melody: Sari! Hey, Kanai, where did you learn that?
Kanai: I learned about it at home. The legend. I couldn�t remember it at all until you started talking about it.
Miklos: Another few interesting points about the elements are that there were only 19 original elements. Water wasn�t in the original set. That was reserved for the descendant. The other elements were supposedly passed down through the bloodline. So, all the people with the elements are related to the originals.
Melik: How does that make since?
Milos: What do you mean?
Melody+Melik: -look at each other- Should we tell?
Bek: Why?
Pen: Go ahead. If we don�t tell him, the Voice people can come and ask him if he�s seen anything.
Takara: Why not? For once, I agree with Pen. Besides, he already knows we have powers.
Melody+Melik: Alright. �look at each other- You go ahead.
Pen: Melody, why don�t you tell him.
Kanai: What is she, the leader?
Bek: No. She knows more about what�s happened than you do. Go ahead, Melody.
Melody: Ok. But, you have to promise not to tell anyone.
Miklos: Ok. I swear I won�t tell anyone. �thinks- At least, not until everything is over.
Melody: All right. A couple of days ago, I unleashed the power on accident. I knew nothing about the legend or my twin. My two friends, my sister, and I went to track down my brother and met one of our new friends on the way there. We met the other two through my brother. We ended up here, ironically. My question is, my brother, sister, and I each have an element. My brother and I are supposed to have elements according to the legend, but how can my sister?
Miklos: Maybe your family line crosses with another element�s line. The good thing about your group, though, is you blend in. I would never have guessed you had elemental powers.
At that moment, the library door opened. In came a little girl about 6. She looked normal, but the stones glowed. Sari went to the girl.
Sari: Hello. What�s your name? My name is Sari.
Girl: Hello. My name is Kara. �looks at Sari�s hand- Hey! You have a weird mark on your hand, too.
Melody: Hi. My name is Melody. I�m Sari�s older sister. What are you looking for in the library?
Kara: I�m looking for information on the elements. Do you all have marks on your hands?
Miklos: -looks confused- Ummmm� what marks? I don�t see any.
Melik: Normal people can�t see them. What element does Kara have?
Bek: -takes out paper- Let me see your hand for a sec. I�m Bek. �looks at hand- Hmmm� looks like wisdom.
Kanai: -thinking- What�s with all the little kids? Why are they getting powers? Hopefully, she�s not coming with us. That would be way too many kids for me.
Kara: Well, do you have any books I can take out on this subject? My mommy wants me home as quickly as possible, so I�m not caught outside if the bad elementals pop up.
Miklos: Ok. Tally, can I have that book you�re holding? �Tally hands over book "Stone Elements"- Here you go, Kara. I hope you enjoy the book.
Kara: Thank you. Bye. �stops in front of Takara- I recognize you.
Takara: I imagine so. I�m your step-cousin, Takara.
Kara: Oh, yeah! I forgot. Bye! �hugs Takara before leaving-
Takara: I hate being home�
Bek: Well, we probably shouldn�t remain in one place.
Miklos: If you�re looking for some clues, look for the Elemental Temple. There may be something helpful there.
Melody: Thanks. Bye, Mr. Miklos.
They leave the library and go to a gas station. The group needed a detailed map of the area and some more food besides noodles. They go into the woods behind the gas station to find the temple. Melody and Melik are also talking about temporarily changing their names so they�ll be less identifiable.
Melody: I could go by my middle name, Brin. How about you, Melik?
Melik: I guess going by Brian would be a little stupid.
Takara: Yup. You�ll be identified as twins less quickly, though.
Kanai: I know! If you can�t think of anything, you could go by Iori.
Everyone: Iori?!
Melik: Iori� weird, but I like it. Where did you come up with that one?
Kanai: If I was a boy, my name would have been that.
Bek: -jumps in- I�ve found the temple. Ready?
Everyone: Yes!
And so they headed toward the temple. Melody was going to be known as Brin while Melik was to be called Iori. We�ll leave it at that. (if you did the map, you would have realized the library trip was on a Sunday. This couldn�t happen here because that�s usually reserved for worshipping. When I was talking about this chapter with a friend of mine who helped me with Takara, she said I played too much Zelda because of the temple name.)
