Mountain Faith Mission has only one orphanage at this time. There have been as many as 54 children staying at the orphanage at one time. The orphanage was started with only one three year old child. One night, after Brother Turner had been preaching in the mountains, he was kept awake by weeping and wailing. The next morning, a woman from the village came to him and thrust her infant into his arms. She explained that her husband had died in the night from starvation. She had 6 other children and wanted at least one member of her family to survive. They had been living on boiled tree bark for nutrition. Brother Turner explained that he couldn't carry an infant on his horse but told her he could take an older child. She sent her 3 year old son with him. With this child, the orphanage at Mirebalais was born. While that child is now strong and healthy, the rest of his family eventually starved to death.

The government has highly commended Mountain Faith Mission's orphanage with one High Judge commenting, "Pastor Turner's children are getting fat!" But the orphanage doesn't receive any funding from the government. If you would like to help with this work, send your tax deductible gift to:
