Philosophy of Education

At New Hope Community Church, we believe all children can learn about Christiainity. Even at the youngest age, children can understand concepts of a God who loves them. They can begin to practice life-long disciplines to help them in their christian walks from young ages, such as prayer and bible study. We educate all the children who come thorugh the church doors in the hope that as they grow older they will make the choice to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

As children, it is important to learn in concrete ways, so hands-on activities, discussion, games and crafts are also included into Junior Church curriculum. The different ways we educate also helps children who learnin differnet ways. We have discussions for those who learn audibly. We write things on the board for the visual learners. We often have games with movement for the spatial learners. For those who learn in a hands-on fasion, there are things to write, color, and make.

We also try to reinforce the age-appropriate disciplines that are important at each level, such as improving reading and writing skills, good manners, listening to classmates respectfully and making good choices in speech. The teachers apply consistency in classroom expectations so the children know what to expect each day and can feel comfortable with the limits they are given.
