08 Syncopation

In polyphonic music, the individuality of each part is very important and it is very important to make each part so that they can alert audiences that they are entering.

syncopation here is so handy to make this effect. entering at the time when all other parts is suposed to be quiet. just got the idea from Bach's Sinfonias (3-parts inventions) no. 10.

no. 5 is also an interesting, and thought-provoking piece. the syncopated pattern of the base plus the apoggiatura soften the accent on the first beat. which gives a very fresh taste to the rhythmic pattern which is different from an ordinary 3/4 beat. maybe its a great idea to revisit the Inventions as well as the Sinfonias to study counterpoint writing.
