The Rhythm is not a fixed thing as one may think as a meter. It can be considered as just points of accent. And accent means a point of different with the others only but not mean a loud point. A subito pianissmo may provide accent as well.
However, though accents should not be confined by meters, certain balance at the macroscopic scale should be maintained in the general sense.
