


1. Watch the Eyes
This is how many pros pick up on their opponent's hands. The eyes never lie. For example, some players might stare down for some time at big hole cards, where as they may also quickly glance at a weak hand. This is why you may see players were sunglasses to shield their eyes from opponents.
2. Repetive Glancing at Hole cards
Some players will look down at their hole cards after the flop to see if they have a draw with the flop. Let’s say that there are 3 diamonds on the flop. A player might check his cards for a diamond. This also means that they probably don't already have the flush as they would have remember if the cards were suited.
3. Anxiety
Sometimes anxiety in poker players will occur when they are involved in a big pot. Players may become nervous. Occasionally, things like muscle movement and faster heart rate may occur. Players look at others to see any quick movements of the muscles or indication of sweating or faster heart rate. Generally, anxiety will occur during a big bluff to take down a pretty big pot.
4. Body Language
Body language can also determine the strength of a player's hand. If you see someone slouching or groaning this can usually tell you that their hand is not that strong and they would prefer to not be in the hand. Contrary to this situation is when a player is very aware of what is going on in the end and appears to be sitting straight up. This player could be waiting to raise and most likely has a playable hand.
5. Strong is Weak & Weak is Strong
Often at the table, some players will try to play off that their hand is very weak. For example you might here some one say "I haven't got any cards all night" right after they looked down at pocket aces. This usually won’t happen with experience players but among amateurs it is common. When bluffing, players may try to be intimidating by raising their voice and looking strong.
6. Betting Patterns
When looking for tells, recognizing a players betting style is important. You need to determine how people bet in certain situations. Some players may make the same bet every time with top pair, others may check the nuts, or some opponents may have a bet they use only when bluffing.
7. Facial Expressions
Players tend to show frustration in their face with a weak hand and confidence with a strong one. Your opponents will always try to pick up on these expressions. This is another reason why someone might wear sunglasses or a coat or sweatshirt and cover up their face.
8. Shaking Hands
Watch the opposing player's hands as he reaches for a bet. When his hands are shaking or trembling he is nervous. Be careful as he might be holding a monster hand.
9. Watching Chip Stacks
After hitting top pair, a set, or anything good on the flop, players tend to glance down at their own chip stack, anxious to bet. This should always indicate to you that they may have something. On the other hand, some players will stare at their opponent's stack after betting. This usually is when they have bluffed and don't want any callers.
10. Stacking Chips
Aggressive and loose players seem to stack their chips in an unorganized manner as they are ready to get them in the pot. Tight players will tend to stack their chips very neatly and organized. Studying your opponent's stacks can helpful when playing Hold'em.
