In the game of Texas Hold'em each player is dealt two cards face down. After all players have received their cards, a first round of betting takes place. Next, the flop comes. Three cards face up on the board that all players can use in improving their hands. The flop is followed by another round of betting. The turn or fourth street is next. One card face up on the board for all players to use. Another round of betting takes place. Finally, the river or fifth street comes. One last card face up on the board. A final round of betting takes place. Players still left in the hand flip over their cards and a winner is determined.
So each player has their own two cards that no one else can use and the five "community cards" on the board for all to see. That is seven cards for everyone. However, you may only use your best five card hand out of the seven cards. Texas Hold'em is an easy to learn game and with these rules anyone can pick it up.
