Painting a New Color
I think that it's time that I pull out the paint
Break open the bucket, let the fumes escape
It's time I stirred it up once again, let it flow
Into the paint tin, where I'll roll the roller
And let it soak in.
The old colors were out-dated, overated, at least once fumugated
So I took what's new to the wall
I splashed and I swished and splattered the paint
I rolled all day and I brushed on my breaks
Until finally after all the work was finished
I stood back from the wall, covered in the medium
That I had applied to the tall wall and ceiling.
I admired the work, that now was completed
But I thought of what it used to be, the old color it was
It seemed so used, abused, but now gone...
I sat down and cried, What had I done?
