If you look close, you can see Kevin's modified skid plate with holes for extra cooling for the turbo.  That's my truck on the right, looking like the day it was driven off the lot, except for the Hella's.
Here we are in the narrows of Titus Canyon.  300 feet of rock on both sides and not a place to be caught in a downpour.  We got a few drops of rain but that was all.  Steve is looking very Indiana Jones.
Scotty's Castle, the part you can see without paying the $25 tour fee.
After the Titus Canyon Run, Steve headed back to Trona Pinacles and Kevin had to deal with his electircal problems.  That left Dat, Carlos and myself to think up a new run... Scotty's Castle to Hunter Mountain via Ubehebe Crater and a side trip to the Racetrack.  Seventy fie off road miles and from sea level to over 7000 fett and back down again.  Near the racetrack we talked to the Park Ranger helping a Land Cruiser with a flat.  She didn't know if Hunter Mountain was open and didn't recommend it.  That wasn't going to stop us, besides anything was better than the 36 miles of class A washboard we just covered.  Dat over the CB said his fillings were coming out with my reply being "You still have teeth?"
This is the famous "Racetrack".  The rocks race each other across the dry lakebed leaving a trail.  The current theory is when it rains, the wind whips through and moves them.  No one has ever captured or seen a rock move.

We made good time from the racetrack to Hunter Mountain.  After the turnoff at Teakettle Junction, the road was noticeably less travelled with very little washboard.  Teakettle Junction used to have a display of about 25 tea kettles hanging on the sign.

It was disappointing to see that someone had stolen almost all of them.  Sunlight was wasting and lets just say we made the best of the straight-aways without getting too crazy in the turns... ha, ha, ha!

It was dark by the time we made it back to the hard top.  Carlos and Dat went south and I headed north to Lone Pine for the night.  The next morning, I made the trip back to Monterey, 365 miles.
Sincere thanks to Terry Johnson and everyone who mad this trip possible. IT WAS A BLAST!!

The End.
